Paper Pumpkin January 2017 Alternate

A quick Paper Pumpkin January 2017 alternate before I dash off to work. Yes, on a Sunday. Thankfully a rare occurrence but the project that I’ve been pulled into recently is rather demanding! So demanding, that it wasn’t until yesterday that I was able to get to the post office and mail out my thank you packages to the people who came shopping with me last month. Apologies for the week’s delay if you are one of them, but they are on the way now and are expected to be delivered by Tuesday at the latest.

Here I decided to take the elements of the kit and rather than make a bag, change it to a card. The only thing I’ve added is a scrap of calypso coral card stock. First I cut one of the bag fronts down and added a border just 1/8 inch of calypso coral to frame it. The banner and striped vellum are from the kit and attached together with glue dots. The ones in the kit are really flat and, amazingly, don’t show through the vellum. Before I’d learned that, I had designed this so that the heart would cover the glue dots – now I can remove the “how do I hide the glue dot” concern from my designs whilst using kit glue dots. Finally I stamped the heart with the outline and sentiment and added it with dimensionals.

By the way – there’s one glue dot under the vellum that’s not hidden by something else. I’m so thrilled that it’s invisible! At least, I think it is  – let me know if you can see it!

Love Notes Framelits Dies

I’ve been looking at some of the new product that arrived about a week ago and I’ve been wanting to play with it but long work hours have made it difficult. So I’m happy that I found some time today and I set out to use the new Sending Love suite which we played with at the Onstage Local back in November. Then we made some little cute 3 inch cards, but this time I wanted to use the Love Notes Framelits Dies on a full sized card. I intended to use the DSP too, but somehow that didn’t happen.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Love Notes Framelits Dies - Sealed with Love

I took my colour scheme from the make and takes from Onstage – real red and emerald envy. I started by cutting out the envelope – easy with the dies – out of the sending love glassine sheets. Not only is it cut out, the die does the scoring for you. Just a little dab of snail on the bottom flap and the envelope was made. The sentiment actually comes from Suite Sentiments, a stamp set full of sentiments (!) which are designed to coordinate with other products in the Occasions catalog. So I stamped that first and then cut out my insert for the envelope. Luckily the Sealed with Love stamp set is a photopolymer so it was easy to line up my line of hearts. The heart is also cut out with the Love Notes Framelits Dies. For some reason, I overlooked the real red 3/8″ stitched satin ribbon in the annual catalog and only just received it. It’s fabulous in real red.

I guess I should start dinner before playing some more…

Succulent Garden DSP

Succulents are all the rage right now, apparently, and so Stampin’ Up! brought out a suite of products showcasing them. Here I’m sharing a card made with the Succulent Garden DSP which is just gorgeous.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Succulent Garden DSP - Love Sparkles - Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies

I really love this particular print and so wanted to leave it to shine on its own with as little interruption as possible! So I’ve got a piece of the DSP with a small white border and placed on a mint macaron card base. I decided that it needed a little splash of another colour and, looking at the colours in the Succulent Garden DSP, chose sweet sugarplum. I had decided that this would be a thank you card and after trying a few sentiments in the new catalog, found the thank you from Love Sparkles which fits perfectly. A quick die cut around it with the Stitched Shapes framelits dies, a few dimensionals and I was good to go.

The designer series papers are always good for showing you different colour combinations that you may not have thought of yourself – even the papers that you don’t have.

All Things Thanks

I was playing with the Falling in Love DSP yesterday playing with another project, when this piece of DSP came to hand and I thought it would be great with the All Things Thanks set. The big bold sentiment paired with the dreamy out of focus bokeh background insisted on being put together. I think that they were right!

I used the embossing buddy of course and then inked up in versamark. I actually then stamped because I have the retired early espresso embossing powder, but if you don’t, just then ink up in early espresso and use clear embossing powder. It gives the same look and the versamark doesn’t seem to upset the other ink pads – I’ve been doing this for a while. I also heated the powder before adding the DSP to its mat since if it became wavy (heating the back of the paper helps to straighten it out), fixing it to the early espresso mat would take care of it. I used blushing bride as a card base which is odd because I fully intended to use sweet sugarplum! This is the paler edge of the DSP so possibly the sweet sugarplum would’ve been too much. I think I’ll get a piece from the more purple side of the sheet and make a similar card for comparison purposes. Wow! Can you believe that I made a card without the Stitched Shapes Framelits? Me neither! Although that gives me an idea…

I really love this DSP – I wonder if it might possibly be the first time that I need to order a second pack!

Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies

I’m not really sure how this card evolved; I meant to play with the large single dragonflies that are part of the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies but somehow I had the five little ones cut out of gold foil before I knew what had happened! It’s a really fun bundle. I tried the Falling in Love DSP that I used yesterday but finally settled on a piece from the Serene Scenery DSP stack.

I glued the piece of DSP to an island indigo card base before doing the embossing. I’m not sure that it would be so easy to emboss on DSP – possible, yes since I’ve embossed on more delicate vellum before, but I figured it would be easier to handle with the card base supporting it. The sentiment is from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set which is bundled with the dies. Then to finish, all I had to do was to glue on the gold foil dragonflies – again using the silicon mat and a sponge dauber.

I’m excited for the official start of the Occasions catalog and Sale-a-bration on Wednesday. I’m holding a launch party with make and takes and refreshments which should be really fun. If you’re close to Randolph, NJ and would like to attend, drop me an email.

Of course the beginning of Sale-a-bration means that the great close out sale currently going on is almost ending – tomorrow in fact is the last day. That’s also the case with the offer from me – a new, free stamp set. Just spend $40 with me and use the workshop code CBUJ4GTP, and you get to select one of Hey, Chick, Delicate Details or Designer Tee which I’ll send you for free once I close out this workshop on January 3rd. Check here for the details and also pictures of these stamp sets. If you spend $60, I’ll send you the pearl or rhinestone basic jewels as well. Email me at lizbaileycards@gmail.com to let me know which of the sets you’d like and whether you’d like pearls or rhinestones (if you’ve earned them), or I’ll just select one at random.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.
