Stampin’ Creative Blog Hop – Cooking up a Storm

Welcome to the Stampin’ Creative blog hop. My name is Liz Bailey and I am really excited to be a guest designer this month with this talented group of demos from the UK – especially as I am originally from the UK and my sister, Caro, is one of the group. I moved to New Jersey quite a few years ago and became a demo almost 4 years ago. My sister and I spend many happy hours discussing stamping! This month the theme is Cooking up a Storm and whilst I love cooking, I don’t have many cooking stamp sets. So I went with preparing fruit for your delectation and delight. Whether you started the blog hop here or are already hopping away, you are most welcome and I hope you enjoy everyone’s creations.

The first card in the pack is my strawberry and watermelon fruit salad. I found it best to use the punches in the itty bitty fruit punch pack so that I could arrange my salad. You also don’t need to stamp the outlines of the fruit if you’re using the punches since they are slightly smaller than the images. I mounted my piece of whisper white onto a slightly larger emerald envy and that fit perfectly onto a notecard. The sentiment came from the Fruit Basket and finished the card perfectly. The sentiment was then repeated on the envelope to make a matching set.

I then decided that I needed to use all four of the punches. So, next up is the pineapple which I stamped in crushed curry and emerald envy and punched out quite a few of them. I added my little fruit trio to a piece of whisper white and added the same sentiment and mat as before. For a different look from the strawberries, a main layer was added from the Tutti Frutti DSP. A scrap was also added to the envelope along with 3 more pineapples.

The speckled look on the pears came about because I couldn’t decide on an ink colour. So I used mossy green and brilliant red brusho crystals liberally sprinkled onto wet watercolour paper and then used the punch. I used another of the sentiments, this time stamped in old olive and glued down 7 pears, popping some up for interest. Another 7 adorned the matching envelope.

So I had used all of the fruit, but now I needed something to put them in. I decided to create a little folder. You need a piece of card stock 9″ by 8″. Score on the 9 inch side at 1/2, 4 1/2 and 8 1/2 and on the 8 inch side at 2 inches. Fold and burnish all the score lines and then remove the half inch strips on the sides down to the 2 inch score line. If you trim a small triangle at the 2 inch line, you have 2 tabs to glue securely to create the pockets which will fold over nicely without the extra bulk. For decoration, I added another 7 pears (well it’s hard to make a small amount of brusho-ed paper!) down the edge. To hold the folder closed, I dyed some whisper white organza ribbon using the dark old olive Stampin’ blends marker.

That should definitely fulfill your 5 a day for today!

Thank you so much for visiting – please continue to hop through the Stampin’ Creative group and be inspired by the wonderful creations.

Paper Pumpkin

Let’s talk about Paper Pumpkin, Stampin’ Up!’s all-inclusive papercrafting subscription program. The program just turned five years old and although I believe it got off to a rough start, the kits have improved over time and now they are really excellent.

pp_sab_demo_head_011889047e1b0be1686086dbff0000ec372d

This service was designed for customers who are new to papercrafting, giving them no-fuss creativity in a box—delivered straight to their door. It’s also good for seasoned crafters who like to have a kit to play with (especially with others) and now Paper Pumpkin is making it even easier to start getting creative by removing some of the cost for new subscribers!

Because right now new subscribers get 50% off their first 2 months.

Here are the fine details on the offer:

  • Promotion is for new subscribers only
  • Offer is available March 11–May 10, 2018
  • Offer runs for 2 months
  • Use code SAVEFIFTY0418 at checkout
  • Discount is applied to one kit per month for the first two month of a new subscription.
    • How it works: A new customer can subscribe during April’s subscription period from March 11–April 10 or May’s subscription period from April 11–May 10 and receive the discount. If a new customer subscribes during April’s subscription period they will receive 50% off their subscription when billed in April and May. If a new subscriber subscribes during May’s subscription period they will receive 50% off their subscription when billed in May and June. If a customer suspends during their 2-month discount period, they will receive their discount during the first 2 months in which they reactivate.
  • Does not apply to prepaid codes

The other great thing about Paper Pumpkin is that you can purchase ahead which is a wonderful thing right now. Because whatever size prepayment you go for earns you free Sale-a-bration products. But Sale-a-bration finishes tomorrow so you need to move swiftly to grab any free products that you still need. You don’t have to use your prepaid code right away either – so if you’re a new subscriber, you can get your 2 half price kits for the next 2 months and then start using your prepaid.

Epic Celebrations

I participated in a swap a couple of months ago and today I want to share the cards that I got back which used the Sale-a-bration set Epic Celebrations. They are three very different cards each using a different image from the set.

First up is a card made by Selene Kempton. I couldn’t get it to photograph well but there’s wink of Stella on the guitar and also a few droplets of it on the background, so it’s a nicely sparkly card. Sparkle seems to suit the sentiment.

Next we have Debbie Prante’s card. She went with foil and metallic embossing to make her card sparkly.

Finally we have Lisa Marie Smith’s card – she also added sparkle, this time by using rhinestones.

So three very different cards showcasing the same set, Epic Celebration.

I hope you enjoyed today’s projects – if you want this set, you need to act quickly. There are just four days left in Sale-a-bration including today. A $50 order will allow you to select the Epic Celebration stamp set. Just click on the Shop Now button below or over to the left.

Just 6 more days for the Party Pandas

I just noticed that I forgot to share this adorable card featuring the Party Pandas. Criminal! They are so much fun and you have just SIX days to earn them for free. They are free with a $50 product purchase until the end of the week when Sale-a-bration ends.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Scattered Sequins TIEF - Party Pandas

The Scattered Sequins TIEF that I used as a background for this card recently became available as a Sale-a-bration freebie too. An addition of the tutti frutti sequins makes the background even more fun. I colored in the panda’s hat with a watercolor pencil but you could also use Stampin’ Write markers. The sentiment is also from the Party Pandas. I’d definitely suggest this as a freebie choice – and if you’re taking advantage of Sale-a-bration to stock up on retiring in colors and basic supplies, you’ll earn a few freebies.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.

In Colors

In May, Stampin’ Up! will announce what’s going to retire from the current annual catalog, but one thing that we know will retire are the 2016-2018 in colors (unless they are brought back in a color refresh as happens occasionally). Now is the time to snap up anything you need in these colors – especially a re-inker so that you can use your favourite color’s ink pad for a long long time to come.

2018incolors

Once the retiring list is announced, all products in these colors tend to go quickly. So now is the time to stock up whilst you have everything available AND you get to enjoy a freebie or two from Sale-a-bration if you order by the end of the month. Don’t forget that I’m also offering free stamp sets and bundles on top – see the buttons below. It’s definitely a win-win.
