Paper Pumpkin January 2017 Alternate 5

With just a couple of days to go before the deadline to be on the list for the February paper pumpkin, I’m up to my Paper Pumpkin January 2017 Alternate 5. This one is the thank you card that I sent out to my January customers and it combines the January Paper Pumpkin, Adoring Arrows and the Sealed with love bundle.

Using sweet sugarplum ink, I stamped the sentiment all over my background layer, ensuring that some fell off the edges. Then I stamped off once and added a little layer of hearts onto a piece of scrap before cutting it out with the Love Notes framelits dies. I then stamped the thank you sentiment again on the middle of the note. The dies includes one to make a little envelope and I cut this one out of the Sending Love glassine sheets; it’s easy to assemble especially since the die adds score lines. I put it together with a glue dot and topped that with an enamel shape and popped it up with some dimensionals. It was fun making them and surprisingly quick too. Just use a piercing mat to ensure good coverage when using the photopolymer stamp and you’re good to go – just don’t forget some scrap to cover the mat when you’re stamping off the edge.

Love Notes Framelits Dies

The Paper Players’ themed challenge this week gave me the perfect opportunity to pull out the Love Notes Framelits Dies and matching stamp set, Sealed With Love. I’ve been eyeing the edgelit in the framelits dies set and this challenge gave me the push to actually play with it!

Here’s the banner which inspired my card:

The edgelit is super fun – it scores the hearts so that you can make them really 3 dimensional. As I was playing, I realised that I could slide a piece of card stock under part of the heart to really show them off. So I cut a piece of whisper white and put it in place whilst I was playing – it stays so well I almost forgot to glue it in when I was done! I used the Love Notes Framelits Dies to cut a few real red hearts and a few gold foil arrows but decided that more than one heart fought with the edgelit and made the card too “matchy”. So one heart only with a gold arrow on top and one of the beautifully scripted sentiments in real red to finish it off. I usually add glue to the mat rather than the card base so that I’m sure it’s in the right place, but in this case, I added snail to the right hand side of the card base next to the hearts so that it was easier to position the white layer. If you CASE this – and I hope you will – be careful not to put too wide of an insert inside the card or it will show.

Don’t you love the three dimensional edge?

Love Notes Framelits Dies

I’ve been looking at some of the new product that arrived about a week ago and I’ve been wanting to play with it but long work hours have made it difficult. So I’m happy that I found some time today and I set out to use the new Sending Love suite which we played with at the Onstage Local back in November. Then we made some little cute 3 inch cards, but this time I wanted to use the Love Notes Framelits Dies on a full sized card. I intended to use the DSP too, but somehow that didn’t happen.

I took my colour scheme from the make and takes from Onstage – real red and emerald envy. I started by cutting out the envelope – easy with the dies – out of the sending love glassine sheets. Not only is it cut out, the die does the scoring for you. Just a little dab of snail on the bottom flap and the envelope was made. The sentiment actually comes from Suite Sentiments, a stamp set full of sentiments (!) which are designed to coordinate with other products in the Occasions catalog. So I stamped that first and then cut out my insert for the envelope. Luckily the Sealed with Love stamp set is a photopolymer so it was easy to line up my line of hearts. The heart is also cut out with the Love Notes Framelits Dies. For some reason, I overlooked the real red 3/8″ stitched satin ribbon in the annual catalog and only just received it. It’s fabulous in real red.

I guess I should start dinner before playing some more…

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Please use the hostess code to get free handmade cards; the current one is PNF6CKRH (if your order is over $150, don’t use the code, you get the rewards, but you still get the free cards from me). Sealed with Love for a sneak peek

As you know I went to the Onstage Local event in Secaucus at the weekend and of course we got to play with new product from the next catalogue. I wanted to share the Make and Takes we did using the Sealed with Love stamp set and matching framelits, Love Notes Framelits dies. The cards also feature the new Sending Love DSP stack, Sending Love embelllishments, Sending Love Glassine Sheets as well as emerald envy baker’s twine.

Aren’t they adorable? They are 3 inches by 3 inches and the base is a sheet of the Sending Love DSP stack cut in half. In fact, in our Supplies box on the table at the event, we had the entire stack sliced in half. This meant we could all choose our card bases.

The cards at the left and right are fairly self explanatory and just feature the stamp set and matching framelits with some embellishments. The middle one is amazing – we used the framelits to cut out an envelope shape out of the Sending Love glassine sheets and then stuck it together with a mini glue dot. The insert is also cut using the framelits and the matching stamp set, Sealed With Love has a matching stamp that matched the top of the insert. Of course, it would have been easier if I’d stamped first and then cut but this worked pretty well.

I love the real red and emerald envy together – I need to make some more Christmas cards featuring those colours.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.
