Cards for the gift bags

As I mentioned yesterday, I wanted to make some cards to go into the gift bags that I created to thank my new Paper Pumpkin subscribers. The bag isn’t big enough to hold my normal sized cards so since I would need to make envelopes, I turned to the new in colours since I have the new envelope paper in these shades. Or maybe I just wanted to play with more of the new colours.

Cards sized 3″ by 4″ will fit happily in the bag and even more happily I found that an envelope for this size card needs a piece of paper 6″ by 6″ so I can get four envelopes out of one sheet of paper. Very nice.

Stampin' Up! Because you care and Million & One

I started with very vanilla card stock and stamped the sentiment from the Million & One set in mint macaron. This set is retiring so you only have until next week to get it if you want it! I then took some mint macaron card stock and using lost lagoon ink used some sentiments from the hostess set Because You Care. This is also retiring. As you can see, they pair beautifully with the envelopes made with the mint macaron envelope paper and there’s no need for lining since the inside of the paper already has a good liner – like pattern.

Stampin' Up! Million & One and Larger than life

I decided that the tip top taupe would pair nicely with the mint macaron. I decided to take it up a notch by embossing the sentiment from Million & One with gold embossing powder onto the tip top taupe. I then pulled out the Larger Than Life set and stamped the first initial of both of my subscribers onto a very vanilla card in tip top taupe. I’ll have to ensure that they get the right bag! I made the envelopes out of the tip top taupe envelope paper.

If you’d like a set of cards, you know what to do. Subscribe to Paper Pumpkin using the button on the side which will take you to the Paper Pumpkin site with me as your demonstrator!

See you tomorrow,

Liz

A million and one thanks

This seemed like a good card to make at a crop. I was very thankful for a lot of things, but I’ll limit it to carding related items. I was firstly grateful that I thought I was well enough to attend having caught a cold/sinus infection/cough on the plane on the way back from Barcelona. In truth, I probably wasn’t well enough because I had a bit of a relapse this week, but I have the time to take it easy so it’s all good. Secondly I was really happy that my best friend agreed to attend with me after having made a single card in her whole life. As my brother pointed out, it was more about spending time together and relaxing and if she didn’t like making cards all day, it would be fine. As it turns out, Julia got really into it; we attended the technique class and learned 6 new techniques as well as making cards – we’ve already signed up for the next crop in April! I was also thankful for the three women responsible for all the fun – for details see their website. I was especially thankful to Melissa who put together the goody bags containing, amongst other things, some of the Birthday Bash DSP.

I absolutely love the blue and white swirly paper but it’s quite loud. For me. I think I got it out of the goody bag at least three times and then put it back before I managed to cut it and proceed with the card. I didn’t want to hide too much of the beautiful paper; the swirls on this sentiment (from the Stampin’ Up! Million and One set) seem to go with the DSP so it was a simple matter of stamping the sentiment and then cropping it with the ovals framelits and cutting the next largest oval in night of navy.

I loved the DSP so much that, not only have I ordered some, I lined the outside of the envelope so that it can’t be missed!
