Party Pop-up thinlits dies for CASology

The current challenge at CASology is Sprinkles. I fully intended to use the Sprinkles for Life set (obvious right?) and was undecided as to whether to go for the cupcake sprinkles or the rain when I remembered that I’d been planning on playing with the Party Pop-up thinlits dies. They are being carried forward to the new catalogue so I felt I should celebrate by using them. So I’m going with sprinkles in a confetti type way. Hope that’s okay for the challenge and that it’s CAS enough.

Stampin' Up! Party Pop-up Thinlit dies

I used the Party Pop-up thinlits dies on a piece of card stock that happened to be sitting next to my big shot – turns out it’s tangerine tango. I wanted to see how it looked as a front to a card. I trimmed the edges of the piece so that it actually popped out and cut off the piece making it into a word bubble. I then decided it needed some contrast behind the card and picked gold foil. Perfect. Except the piece needed to go on more tangerine tango but overall it seemed a bit bare. So I cut out another few piecesĀ of the party pop-out thinlit with gold foil so that I could add the curly gold and the stars to the edges of the card. I popped the main piece up with dimensionals. The envelope is lined using retiring in colour DSP and the envelope liner framelits.

I used the hostess set, Happy Birthday Everyone for the inside, stamping the sentiment in tangerine tango on very vanilla. I love this sentiment – you need it. Really. And it’s retiring at the end of the month so you need to grab it asap. I added some spare gold foil curly ribbons cut out with the die to embellish it.

Happy Birthday, Everyone

Firstly I’d like to thank the team at CAS Colours & Sketches for selecting my card as one of the weekly winners. It’s an honour to be chosen.

The title of the post isn’t actually wishing everyone a Happy Birthday (although if you’re reading this on your birthday, Happy Birthday to you), rather it’s the name of the stamp set. Happy Birthday, Everyone is one of the hostess sets in this year’s annual catalogue; I really like the typeface.

Stampin' Up! Happy Birthday, Everyone and Bountiful Border

It took a few tries to get the Happy Birthday in the right place with the blooms not too close and not too far away – and since it’s a two step process where I stamped the stems first, I had an iteration where the blooms were encroaching on the sentiment. But paper isn’t expensive – and it has two sides so I kept trying until it was right. The sentiment is stamped in wisteria wonder and the stems in pear pizzazz on very vanilla cardstock Then I stamped the flowers also in wisteria wonder using the stamp-a-ma-jig for placement. I then matted this with some wisteria wonder card and glued that to a pear pizzazz card base. Isn’t the envelope liner awesome? It’s the new subtles DSP stack in pear pizzazz which I cut out with the largest of the envelope liners framelits dies.

Now if I could just manage to make a card that I’m happy with for the latest CAS Colours & Sketches challenge – it’s a sketch this week and I find these tricky. But it’s good to stretch yourself. Apparently.

See you tomorrow,

Liz
