Joseph’s Coat

The week I’m exploring a new to me technique – the Joseph’s Coat technique. It can produce stunningly beautiful cards – and also an unholy mess. I’ve done both!

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Joseph's Coat - Dandelion Wishes

You start by covering a piece of cardstock in whatever colours you like.  Here I used Just Jade, bermuda bay , pretty peacock and shaded spruce with sponge daubers, but you could use sponges if you prefer. Leave it to get really dry. I spent the time grabbing different colors and making  layers for other cards.

Next grab a stamp set and using versamark, stamp on the card and then sprinkle with clear embossing powder and heat. This example is using the Dandelion Wishes stamp set. Make sure that this is dry and then grab a dark ink pad – I used tuxedo black memento – and completely cover the layer. Grab a paper towel and wipe off the colour on the raised images and you’ll see the colours shine through.

I added a Just Jade layer as a mat and mounted this onto a basic black cardbase. The sentiment was from Forever Fern and cut out with the Stitched Nested labels dies.

You can see where the name of the technique comes from – Joseph’s coat of many colors.

See you on Friday,

In Good Taste DSP

Here’s my – maybe – final card using the In Good Taste DSP. There are so many great patterns that I’ve barely scratched the surface!

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - In Good Taste DSP - Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies - Forever Fern

This is a piece of In Good Taste DSP that features night of navy and whisper white. I think it looks slightly spanish or portuguese and I love it. I added a tiny mat in night of navy and then added it to a thick whisper white card base.

The greeting is from the Forever Fear stamp set and it’s been cut out with the stitched shapes framelits dies and popped up. I added a few clear rhinestones as well.

I’ll be demonstrating all 3 of these cards on my Facebook Live at 11am EST today. Come and join me and put in an order for $20 of product using the host code on the right and I’ll send you the things you need to make these card (apart from stamping since that’s against compliance.

I’m a member of the Talented Tutorial Team and each month the 15 of us create a bundle of 15 tutorials. If you spend $35 with me on product, I’ll send you all 15.
