Paper Pumpkin June 2016 Alternate 3

So here’s my Paper Pumpkin June 2016 alternate 3 using the washi tape as I’d promised. In fact, I let the washi tape dictate the complete colour scheme but I took the layout from the current challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin Banner Surprise

And here’s the banner which inspired my card

I’d been contemplating what to do with some of the washi tape from this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit and this sketch seemed perfect. I started by adding a strip of the washi to my thick whisper white card. Then I stamped the sentiment from the kit in peekaboo peach and followed that by using versamark and gold embossing powder. I punched it out with a 2 inch punch. For the second circle, I decided on a smaller piece of peekaboo peach with the second stamp from the kit embossed in gold aswell – it’s punched out with the 1 3/4″ inch punch. I glued the peach circle down but popped up the main element using dimensionals. My sister Caro had told me that she’d recently tried washi as an envelope decoration, so I tried that. Although I miss the envelope liners (and chances are that if there isn’t an envelope photographed, it’s likely using a liner), I now think more about liners rather than just automatically dressing up the envelope that way. That’s a good thing!

See you tomorrow,

Paper Pumpkin June 2016 – Banner Surprise

Stampin’ Up! always creates a video for each of the Paper Pumpkin kits and this month’s Banner Surprise is no different. Here they show the kit put together as designed.

Here are the two alternate ideas that I’ve created so far this month

Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin June 2016 alternate - Banner Surprise and Sunshine Wishes and Crazy about you  Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin June 2016 alternate - Banner Surprise

and here are some alternatives from Stampin’ Up!

I’ve been looking at the washi tape that came with the kit and contemplating another use, so I should be sharing that soon.

Paper Pumpkin June 2016 Alternate 2

Well good morning. Here’s my Paper Pumpkin June 2016 alternate 2. I noticed, when I opened my kit that this was an unusual situation. Well, actually it wasn’t the first time I opened it, since it arrived about 10 minutes before I was due to go to a party (oops) but later on I saw that there weren’t actually enough supplies to make the cards as shown. The video shows 6 cards and implies that you can make 6 banners saying HAPPY. Well, with only two sheets of gold letters, you can only make 2 HAPPY banners. So, what else to do?

I looked for some twine to use instead of the white supplied but I didn’t have a colour that I really liked. So I stuck with the kits colours and pulled out the mint macaron sheer linen ribbon – it’s an awesome ribbon to play with. I simply pushed it through the hole in the spine of the card and made a bow. It came out a little lopsided and that’s when I realised how perfect it was to balance my sentiment. Sometimes you just get lucky!

I used one of the circles from the kit – or you could stamp and punch one out using a 1 3/4 inch circle punch – and stamped in mint macaron. I put the HAPPY and DAY together on one block figuring that they would line up perfectly if I pushed them together and they do. Easy. I punched out a 2 inch circle of tip top taupe and popped that up with dimensionals.

Here’s the official video on this kit

So what alternatives are there for HAPPY on the banner? ENJOY would work – so two HAPPYs and two ENJOYs would work.

If you don’t have the mint macaron sheer linen ribbon, why don’t you?! I’ll be offering another product share in a week or so, but you can email me now to secure a place at lizbaileycards@gmail.com. The details will be the same as the first one – you can read about it here. If you’re not familiar, the advantage of a product share is that you can get a taste of a lot of product at a fraction of the price.

I hope you have a great Monday, see you tomorrow,

Liz

Paper Pumpkin June 2016 alternate

I’m calling this a Paper Pumpkin June 2016 alternate although I am using a few extra products – however they are easy to switch out if you haven’t got what I used. I wanted to show that the dotty circle stamps makes for a really fun background and since I had a “sunshine” on my pile of die cuts that I was “just cutting to see how they looked’ (tell me you do that too!), it begged to be added to the card.

Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin June 2016 alternate - Banner Surprise and Sunshine Wishes and Crazy about you

I started with the idea of just doing 5 circles across the card in pumpkin pie and melon mambo but I needed to fill in the bottom of the card too for balance. I looked at the sentiments in the Paper Pumpkin Banner Surprise kit and although they are useful (happy, birthday, graduation, anniversary etc) they didn’t go with my sunshine die cut from the Sunshine Wishes thinlits set. So I pulled out the Crazy About You, a set that I’m so grateful has carried over along with its thinlits, and stamped the HELLO in crushed curry – the same colour as my die cut by the way.

I tried all three of the colours that I’ve used as a base or even as a mat but there was already enough colour and I finally decided on a thick whisper white card base. So that’s it – my first Paper Pumpkin June 2016 alternate. I think it’s a very happy card, let me know what you think.

See you tomorrow,

Liz
