Love Sparkles

So what do you do when you’re out of designer series paper and you don’t want to buy any more until the new catalog is out? You make your own of course. I confess that I’m nowhere near close to being out of DSP, but I’m assuming that there might be a few people in the world who are in this place? Or maybe, it’s just fun making the paper. I then used Love Sparkles for a sentiment, but mostly this is about having fun with the background.

I made quite a few pieces of homemade DSP using the shaving foam technique about 10 days ago and this is using the second piece made with melon mambo, pumpkin pie and daffodil delight. This time, as a main focal point of the card. I’ve matted it using a piece of daffodil delight and then put it down onto a thick whisper white card base. I then used Love Sparkles for my melon mambo sentiment and used the triple banner punch for my flag.

Here’s a little tip for you – when your banner is only partly on a raised piece of card, add cardstock to build up the piece that isn’t on the raised part. I glued a little scrap of whisper white and daffodil delight cut into a square and then added it under the “you” end of the banner. I could then put dimensionals onto this square and also to the other end of the banner and they would be the same height, rather than the banner drooping as it went off the DSP background. It doesn’t have to raise all of the banner, just the piece that has the dimensionals on it.

Balloon Popup Thinlits Dies

Today I was browsing the retiring list and remembered that the Balloon Popup Thinlits Dies are retiring along with the fun Balloon Adventures set. The reason I’m pointing them out is that the dies are on sale – $16.50 instead of $33 so make sure you buy them singly and not bundled because it’s cheaper. Here’s a fun video featuring Brandi Barnard showing the fun you can have with them.

They are currently still available and the two of them will cost you just $42.50 (instead of $53 for the bundle) down from the original price of $59. Definitely worth snapping up if you don’t have them already.

More Amsterdam swaps

Here’s a second batch of the cards that I received through swapping in Amsterdam. There are five here today – I noticed that they color coordinated and decided not to add others! The first is a clever easel card which I received from Karen Caswell, a sideline to my sister and someone I’ve known on FB for a couple of years. It was lovely to actually meet her in person. I must have a go at this kind of card.

Here’s a card from Joanne Eckl who went to Amsterdam from Canada. You can never have enough cards using Beautiful You.

Here’s Linda Kasparian’s card showcasing the Lift Me Up bundle which her label says she cased from her upline Kim Fee. For some reason, I’ve neglected this bundle so I’m really happy that it’s carrying over.

Demos were told that the Dragonfly Dreams would carry over so that set was very popular for swaps. Here’s one from Emma Bruinink

And finally – here’s a card from another adopted demo, Carolyn Crann Arnold. She is a Canadian currently in the UK for a year and was adopted by my sister’s upline, Eimear, the leader of the Aces & Diamonds. I’ve been getting to know her on FB in the closed group of the Aces & Diamonds so it was great to meet her too.

I love this set and am happy to see it in the new catalog. I must dust it off again. Thanks for the reminder Carolyn.

Love Sparkles Thank You card

This is the epitome of a clean and simple card using a whisper white notecard which not only is great value but makes your card making even quicker. It also showcases the set Love Sparkles.

I took three watercolor pencils – melon mambo, rich razzleberry and pacific point and scribbled onto the card. Next a blender pen took out the lines and moved the colour around a little, blending it together where the colors changed. Once that was dry, I used archival basic black to add the thank you from Love Sparkles. Sadly, this set is retiring but the good news is that it’s still available and is guaranteed to be so through my father’s birthday, May 22nd. Not that Stampin’ Up! knows my father but it makes it a really easy way to remember the date!

A few enamel shapes in pacific point and melon mambo finished this off.

Hello You Party Animal

I’m really enjoying the Party Animal DSP which is where the gorgeous happy party background paper comes from today.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Party Animal - Hello You

Other colours in the DSP pack are pacific point and crushed curry so that helped decide on the colour of the card stock for the thanks which comes from the retiring framelits, Hello You. I can’t believe this is retiring – I use it all of the time. I added this to a banner cut with the triple banner punch out of emerald envy and popped it up with dimensionals on the DSP which was glued to an emerald envy card base. The DSP and framelits are both as supplies last but they are currently still available.
