Soft Sayings Card Kit

The Soft Sayings Card Kit is the new kit in the catalog and it’s wonderful! I’ve already made all TWENTY of my cards and I had a lot of fun doing it. It’s an all inclusive kit providing all the pieces that you need plus ink plus stamp set – all you need to provide is glue and scissors to cut the twine. A kit is great when you just want to create but don’t want to think! And for $35 for the kit which makes 20 cards and then leaves you with a stamp set, it’s tremendous value.

Here’s the official Stampin’ Up! video with Holly showing off the kit:

In a piece of brilliance, Stampin’ Up! have also put together a refill kit – everything you need to put together another 20 cards with envelopes. Everything, in fact, in the original kit bar the box, clear block, ink and stamp set. And it’s only $21.

I’m planning an evening with friends putting together more of the kits – so much fun. If you want to do the same and you order a kit from me, I’ll throw in a little surprise gift with your thank you card.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Please use the Stampin’ Rewards code to get five FREE handmade cards; the current Stampin’ Rewards code is ZDSGJ9U3 (if your order is over $150, don’t use the code, you get the rewards, but you still get the free cards). Layering Leaves Dynamic TIEF

Here’s a card that’s unusual in that it showcases many products; and it’s not unusual in my inability to move away from the new incolors! The card base of this is fresh fig which I ran through the big shot in the Layering Leaves Dynamic TIEF (Textured Impressions Embossing Folder) after lightly spritzing the card with water to get a deeper impression and to help the card fibers to emboss cleanly.

I love green and purple together and here we have old olive with the fresh fig. The DSP is another piece from my one sheet wonder challenge using a sheet of Delightful Daisy DSP and I matted it with a piece of old olive. The sentiments are from a bundle – Lovely Inside & Out bundle which consists of some great words and images plus the ability to cut out three great words. The cutouts are actually designed to create negative space behind them and to be enclosed in a shape (heart, circle, oval) but here I snipped out the word to use on its own. I actually have the word friend twice – under the fresh fig there’s a slightly offset gold foil friend just peeking out to add sparkle. And for a finishing touch, the beautiful fresh fig 1/8 inch sheer ribbon. I love this ribbon – I thought it was probably a little too thin to be used much but it seems to be on a lot of my cards and I’ve ordered another color of it!

So Many Shells

After we’d been to a few appointments, my friend Julia said: “we really need journals to ensure that we remember all the information”. Of course being IT Professionals we thought about using Google so that we could all update the same document but you know what? We’re also Stampin’ Up! demonstrators and we love paper. So, yes, this isn’t as efficient, we can’t search it electronically, but it’s way more pretty and satisfying. And that is the key. Not everything has to be efficient. I had some 8 by 5 inch notepads which I’d bought to cover for downline presents and they are perfect for the task. As is the stamp set So Many Shells which has some amazing sentiments.

This is my journal which I covered in always artichoke card stock and then put on a piece of the beautifully happy flowers from the Delightful Daisy DSP. I adore this paper.

It was hard to decide on the color of the sentiment; I stamped it in always artichoke and then tried it heat embossed in gold but neither really worked for me. Until I decided to mix them up! I inked up the sentiment from So Many Shells in versamark and then always artichoke before stamping on a piece of whisper white and sprinkling on clear embossing powder. I heated it to get the glossy look. Then I took the always artichoke sentiment that I’d tried earlier and cut out the word healing leaving me with a mask. I put the mask over my clear heat embossed sentiment and stamped again in versamark. This time I sprinkled on gold embossing powder and heated it. The word “healing” is therefore double heat embossed and really raised up. I love how it emphasizes the word. I used the layering circles framelits to cut it out and to cut a scalloped always artichoke mat. Since I’ll be carrying this around, I used multipurpose glue to adhere everything so that the book is very flat – I don’t want to rip off the circles when it gets thrown into a bag.

I mentioned earlier this year that if you want a birthday card, just send me a message with your birthday and address. You can email me at lizbaileycards@gmail.com. But also, if you or someone you know needs a card just to say hello, or thinking of you, let me know that too. Because I have experienced recently how wonderful it is to receive cards and I want to pass that on.

Lots of Love

My sister posted on Facebook in a Random Acts of Kindness group about my recent medical diagnosis and I’ve received a number of cards from people that I don’t know, encouraging me and wishing me well. Everyone has talked about how great it is to get nice mail rather than bills and junk and how we should send cards. Having been on the receiving end, this has really opened my eyes – even sending cards to people that you don’t even know is tremendously powerful. So my message today is – send your cards! Today’s card is using a new hostess stamp set, Lots of Love and I’m CASEing one of the cards that I received, this one from Carrie Todd.

I love the colours that Carrie chose and the simplicity of the card. Really stunning. So I decided to CASE it. Unfortunately I didn’t have the same washi tape (I immediately ordered it on receiving this card!) but I did have Background Bits and I used that instead of the washi on a card base of lemon lime twist. I heat embossed in black actually to give some shine – I have to say it’s much harder to get your stamping straight than it would be to get the washi straight! Then I pulled out the hostess set Lots of Love and stamped the sentiment on more lemon lime twist this time in archival basic black and cut this out with my layering circles framelits dies. I added a scalloped border in basic black just a tiny bit larger and popped this up on dimensionals.

I love the lemon lime twist with black. I can’t believe that I originally said that I wouldn’t use this color except for little accents!

Delightful Daisy DSP

You may have noticed that I’ve been sharing cards made with this piece of paper from the Delightful Daisy DSP collection recently. I’ve challenged myself to work through the entire sheet of 12 by 12 and see what I can make. Once I’ve completed it, I’ll share how I cut the paper for my one page wonder. At the current time, it’s not all cut!

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Delightful Daisy DSP - Bunch of Blossoms

I cut this piece of DSP into a rectangle and then randomly sliced through it, creating two similar pieces. I really love this paper on night of navy and used that as a card base. The sentiment is – do I even need to tell you seeing as I use it all the time?! – from Bunch of Blossoms stamped in matching night of navy and cut out with the stitched shapes framelits dies. The finishing touch is the new crushed curry 3/8 inch mini chevron ribbon.
