Celebration Time

I’m laughing at myself today as I share yet another lemon lime twist card; I think I’ll try hard to use a different color tomorrow. But I wanted the half inch ribbon and that pretty much meant one of the new in colors! I’m also featuring the Celebration Time set which didn’t draw my eye initially, but I think it’s a bit of a sleeper set. And when you purchase it as a bundle saving 10%, you really up the fun you can have.

I stamped the gifts and sentiment image on very vanilla in lemon lime twist and then used the Celebration thinlits dies to cut it out which gives the lovely bows on top. I then cut out another of the images which is really designed for a tag and cut off two of the presents to make the pile of gifts larger. I wrapped a piece of the lemon lime twist ribbon around my top layer and anchored it in the back – the bow is separate and attached with glue dots. Much easier!

Happy Birthday Gorgeous

Today’s card is based on one that I received a couple of weeks ago and which inspired me to order the Pick a Pattern washi tape – you can see that post here. The white parts of the washi are slightly see through so an intense color like Berry Burst works well.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Happy Birthday Gorgeous - Better Together - Pick a Pattern Washi Tape

I cut my upper layer half an inch smaller than the card base so that I could wrap the ends of the washi under (I haven’t embraced the torn edges looks and doubt I ever will!) and then have a basic black mat to give a frame for the card. I then used the white craft ink which is lovely and juicy to stamp my greeting from Better Together and sprinkled on the white embossing powder.

I used the Stitched Shapes framelits dies to cut this out but decided that the card needed a little extra pop. The Happy Birthday Gorgeous set has some lovely balloons and a single one gave me just what I was looking for – and as a bonus the balloon bouquet punch cuts it out perfectly. I popped it up with a few dimensionals and the card was complete.

Oh so Eclectic

I really love this card and I’m betting that my friend Nicki Read is having a laugh. You see, we saw the set Oh so Eclectic demonstrated at Onstage! in Amsterdam and then I won the set. And I really did not like it. I think it was just the cards that were demonstrated – they just weren’t to my taste. I even swapped my free set with my sister. LOL. And then I got the news about lung cancer and I’ve been receiving cards from friends from all over the place. Including this one from Nicki using Oh so Eclectic which I’ve now had to order having seen this beautiful card!

Oh so Eclectic

There’s so much to love about this card; the colours are marvellous and I love the large border of berry burst at the edge. The flowers are fun and since Nicki used the framelits, they are popped up on dimensionals. She even used my favourite Stitched Shapes framelits.

Paper Pumpkin July 2017

It’s time for a Paper Pumpkin video and this one is, I think, my favourite that we’ve seen in a while. It features two of the new in colors and is really clean and simple. Love it!

In case you don’t know what Paper Pumpkin is about, here are the details:

  • Each month you receive a unique, surprise kit with a project. It’s colour-coordinated and everything is pre-cut
  • Each kit includes stamps, ink, paper, accessories and instructions.
  • Each kit gives you about 30 minutes of fun
  • Your Paper Pumpkin ships around the 15th of the month.
  • You need to sign up for a kit by the 10th of the month to get that month’s kit. If you sign up on the 11th of the month, your first kit will come the next month.
  • A Paper Pumpkin subscription is just $19.95 per month (and shipping is included!) There’s no commitment, you can cancel or put your subscription on hold at any time. You can also prepay 1, 3, 6 or 12 months at a time (great gift idea) and save money with the latter 3 options.
  • Once you’re a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, you can buy previous kits as supplies last. Sometimes complete kits are available at other times, it’s just the consumables so that you can make more.

Apologies for the lack of posting yesterday; I had a busy morning and totally wore myself out and spent all afternoon asleep. I then had friends coming over to celebrate my graduation from radiation therapy and my best friend also brought the news that I am lucky enough to have the necessary mutation which means that I can take pills to handle the lung cancer instead of having chemotherapy. Needless to say, the evening turned into an enormous celebration of joy and gratitude.

Embossing Paste

I’ve been having a lot of fun with the embossing paste in the last few days – I even made my own mask using the thinlits that I got on preorder – the Card Front builder thinlits dies which are bundled with Carols of Christmas. And then I mixed dazzling diamonds glitter with the paste and ended up with sparkly stars, moons and Christmas trees. I have a number of these in process which I’ll share soon.

Here’s the official Stampin’ Up! video showing the Embossing Paste and how to use it. Brandy shows a number of cards here. It wasn’t until I watched this that I decided that I really needed to get the paste. One tip – the paste really dries quickly – don’t leave it on your masks.
