Season of Cheer fast card

Following on from yesterday’s post, here’s another that is fast to mass produce. It also uses fairly minimal product. AND it makes a very small dent in the huge stack of DSP that I have stored. You can get 6 cards from one piece of 12 by 12 DSP and you get two sheets the same in a pack, so here’s another dozen cards that you can make swiftly.

Stampin' Up! Season of cheer DSP and Wonderland

Cut a strip of the DSP at 5.25″ width and then cut it into three 4″ pieces long and then glue a piece of the DSP onto a cherry cobbler card base. If I were making all 12 together, I’d do all of each step at once – it saves a lot of time. Then cut a one inch piece of whisper white and stamp the sentiment which comes from the Wonderland stamp set. The triple banner punch is great for making a banner and also a matting piece as I did here. After I glued the banner and its mat together I popped it up with dimensionals to give me space to attach the reindeer paper clip. I love these clips – I’ve been hoarding them a little but it’s time that they were put on cards and sent to people!

I have another quick and easy card planned for us last minute folks but I also have a class tonight so it may not get finished until Friday. Also my sneak peek order came yesterday (and I had friends over for dinner so I haven’t had a chance to play yet) so it will be hard to resist playing with the new stuff.

I’d like to give a warm welcome to my new email follower – I’m so glad that you joined in the fun.
See you tomorrow,

Season of Cheer DSP for a fast card

My friend Julia told me the other day that she has only got one Christmas card (which she made at the crop). Worse than that, she’s busy on Thursday when I’m having a stamp a stack at my house. So I decided to create a few quick and easy cards that will be good for mass production. All we have to do is to figure out when we can make them. My first card was a bit too simple and then I decided to get out my rather large amount of DSP. Specifically the Season of Cheer DSP.

Stampin' Up! Season of Cheer and Mistletoe and Holly

This was exactly what I wanted – I cut the DSP at 5.25″ by 4″ so this means 6 cards from a piece of 12 by 12 and there are 2 of each pattern in the pack. That’s 11 that Julia could make of this design and it’s fast to do. In a production line it would be easy to stamp all the sentiments, cut them out with the ovals dies and cut out the larger night of navy ovals. Then it’s a very simple matter of gluing together the ovals, gluing the DSP to a night of navy card base and popping up the sentiment with dimensionals and placing it on the card.

I then took the scrap left and added a strip to dress up the envelope. Also quick and easy and makes everything coordinate. I find that I love that!

So if you’re in the same position as Julia, grab some DSP and make some quick cards. I have a few more in the upcoming days to help with last minute “need some more cards” issues.

See you tomorrow,

Sleigh Ride Edgelits – The Second

On Saturday I shared a card that I made using the Sleigh Ride Edgelits and mentioned that I’d cut out both Season of Cheer DSP and whisper white card stock at the same time. Once I’d decided that they weren’t going to fit in the same card, I decided to make two.

Stampin' Up! Sleigh Ride Edgelits and Softly Falling TIEF and Season of Cheer DSP

Today’s card features the bottom half of the DSP; I like how the sleigh and horse are set off by the white background. I decided to keep this one very clean without any extra mats and went searching through my stamp sets for a star that I could perhaps emboss. Nothing felt right. I suddenly remembered my (up to now) unused Softly Falling embossing folder and then the decision was easy. I embossed a piece of whisper white and allowed it to act as a mat. I then put this onto a night of navy card base. The envelope is lined with more of the Season of Cheer DSP using the Envelope liners framelits. The DSP is purposely different shades of blue in the same sheet – the whole stack has a water colour kind of look. It’s one of my favourite DSPs this year.

Here are the two cards side by side for comparison – let me know which you prefer

Sleigh Ride

Many thanks to LeAnne for selecting my card as A Cut Above at the Paper Players this week; it’s an honour to be chosen. Challenges are so much fun – I’d never have made that card without the colour challenge.

Today’s card was also for a challenge – and I held up my blog entry yesterday trying to get the card finished so that I could enter it in the Global Design Project‘s sketch challenge. Sadly I didn’t manage to complete my card until after the challenge link was closed. However, today I finished two cards inspired by the challenge.

Stampin' Up! Jingle all the way and Season of Cheer DSP and Sleigh Ride framelits dies

I actually cut a piece of the Season of Cheer DSP and whisper white card at the same time with the Sleigh Ride Edgelits dies thinking to match up the curves. This didn’t work so well after I punched out the little pieces between the horses legs and the sleigh. Now I was left with missing blue for the background. This is really what sparked making two cards! I stamped the sentiment from Jingle all the Way in real red – I’d left just enough of the curve to match the curved sentiment. I then cut another piece of the DSP and mounted the whisper white on it. The night of navy mat is just 1/8 inch larger giving a skinny border before mounting this onto the new (to me) heavy weight whisper white card stock. It’s much more sturdy than the regular card stock.

As you can see, I used the envelope liner framelits and more of the Season of Cheer DSP to line the envelope. I do like to have them match the card.

See you tomorrow,
