Perfect Blend

Here’s another stamp set which is retiring – Perfect Blend; I thought I should ink it up before it became obsolete. I have used the images before but had borrowed the set from my sister. And so it seems apposite that I’m caseing the coffee splodges from her also. See her recent post here.

Stampin' Up! Perfect Blend

I also made this card to fulfill a challenge from Susan Itell’s site – to use one colour of card and one colour of ink and I further decided that it ought to be one of the five retiring colours. With that decision and the memory of Caro’s card from a couple of days ago still fresh, I got out the Perfect Blend and Gorgeous Grunge stamp sets, very vanilla card stock and baked brown sugar ink. Since this is a very simple card, I didn’t want to make it a single layer – I like the effect of having a layer of the same colour as the base. After stamping the cup and the sentiment, I added the coffee splodges from Gorgeous Grunge. Since the stamp was inked up, I also added some splodges to the front of the envelope.

See you tomorrow,

Ruling the world through coffee

I’ve mentioned a couple of times that my job was being outsourced and that I chose not to move to the outsourcing company. This meant saying farewell to a large number of people that I’ve been working with over the last ten years although I of course mean to keep in contact with a lot of them. I’ve worked with Matt on the global time and expense application for the past couple of years and have been awed by the amount of coffee that he can (and does) drink. When I saw Stampin’ Up!’s set Perfect Blend – and when my sister brought it over with her on her visit – I had to make this card to say farewell to Matt!

Stampin' Up! Perfect Blend in soft suede. Multiple cups.

I stamped the coffee cup on a piece of scrap and cut it out. Then I stamped the first cup at the bottom right hand corner of my very vanilla mat in soft suede. I drew a pencil line so that I could put the bottom left hand corner of the cup on it to keep things lined up (or more or less anyway). Using my mask that I’d just cut out, I covered the first cup and stamped a second cup, putting the left hand side corner of the cup on the pencil line. I did this again another eight times to get the long line of coffee cups! I stamped the sentiment in cajun craze and then adhered the very vanilla to a cajun craze base. I dry embossed the flap of the envelope to finish it off.

Pals Paper Arts PPA226 challenge

It’s colour challenge at the Pals Paper Arts this week:

PPA226 Nov 6

These colours scream autumn but I didn’t want to be predictable. Plus, I had the chance to play with some of my sister’s stamp setsĀ at the crop weekend and wanted to make it worth her while having lugged them over from the UK. So I chose Perfect Blend for this challenge. To really push myself, I also decided to incorporate DSP, not something I do very often. I like to look at the DSP and even think about using it on anything but an envelope liner, but usually I put it back and go more CAS.

I used a mossy meadow base for this one and a strip of DSP fromĀ Colour Me Autumn in Cajun craze, crushed curry, mossy meadow, old olive, soft swede and whisper white. I’m pretty sure that 6 colours on a card is a record for me! I stamped the coffee cup in soft suede and added the sentiment in Cajun craze. I then popped up the cup on stampin’ dimensionals.

Normally I would line the envelope, but I’ve already got DSP on the card. Maybe it would be good to match, but I was already outside of my comfort zone, so I kept pushing. perfect blend mossy meadow, cajun, soft suede env

I dry embossed the envelope flap with the Folder Arrows TIEF – I’ve seen this done a couple of times in the last week or so and decided that it was time to try it out. I love the texture.
