Paper Pumpkin August 2016 Alternate 5

I was sitting at my desk wondering what to make next when I looked at the Paper Pumpkin box sitting next to me and decided to take another look in the box. So here’s my Paper Pumpkin August 2016 Alternate 5. The DSP is actually meant to be a card base but I can’t see “wasting” DSP as the back of a card so I cut it in half and used it on the front.

The sentiment is from Vertical Greetings and stamped in island indigo and then I wrapped a piece of mint macaron ribbon around the DSP. The ribbon is from the Holiday catalog – it’s part of the the ribbon 3/8″ trio pack which also includes rich razzleberry and delightful dijon. I then matted my DSP with a piece of whisper white before adding it to my island indigo card base. I made a bow and added that with a glue dot – it was waving around so I used my paper piercing tool to add another glue dot under the ribbon too. I debated adding enamel dots but with the ribbon, it was just too much!

Paper Pumpkin August 2016 Alternate 4

Today it’s time for my Paper Pumpkin August 2016 Alternate 4 using the Bold Botanicals kit.

I took one of the crumb cake/kraft pieces of card stock and stamped the hello in early espresso. Next I used the embossing buddy and then heat embossed the flowers with gold embossing powder. I cut down the piece of card to allow more of the patterned paper (also from the kit) to show. I added a piece of early espresso to mat the calypso coral DSP. I then popped this entire piece up on dimensionals and attached it to a crumb cake base. Pretty quick and simple. I did wonder about using the new(ish) copper embossing powder but wasn’t sure how it would look with the crumb cake – I may have to make another in copper!

Tomorrow is Thursday which means it’s time for another challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches and time for a new hostess, Karen. You still have time to get in under the wire on this week’s challenge, it closes at 6pm EST tonight. But get ready for September which has five Thursdays and thus the final challenge will be the double. This sketch challenge combined with colours intimidated me at first, but it’s a lot of fun. Do join in the 4 challenges before it to get yourself ready!

See you tomorrow,

Paper Pumpkin August 2016 Alternate 3

Happy Monday! I hope that your week is starting off well – I assume it is if you’re in the UK since it’s a Bank Holiday. For me, a transplant to NJ, I’m off to work, looking forward to next weekend which will be a long one. But first, here’s my Paper Pumpkin August 2016 Alternate 3 which was inspired by CAS on Sunday’s theme this week of balloons.

I took one of the card bases and one of the pockets from the kit and used the Balloon Bouquet punch on them in different directions to get these fun coloured balloons. The balloon strings are from Balloon Celebration and are stamped in island indigo to match the DSP as is the sentiment from Cottage Greetings. I offset the balloons a little so that I could keep lots of lovely clean white space.

Next it was simply a matter of arranging the balloons and then gluing them in place, one at a time, to try to keep the bunch as I’d planned. Three of them are glued and the last two are popped up with dimensionals. A pretty simple alternate although it does use quite a few other products – hopefully you have them or some that will work if you want to try this out.

See you tomorrow,

Paper Pumpkin August Alternate 2

So I took a break from cleaning – actually it’s improving pretty quickly now that we have most of the fabrics washed – and made a card. I decided to work on my Paper Pumpkin August Alternate 2 because it’s fun to make completely different cards from the kit.

I took a circular piece from the kit and stamped thanks in it (from this month’s kit) in cajun craze and then added a circle of mint macaron. This was cut using the old circles collections – I assume that a new layering circles would work but I don’t have that one yet. I also added a strip of cajun craze from the kit to my very vanilla mat before putting that on a cajun craze card base and then  using dimensionals for my sentiment. It’s a different look from the kit, more CAS definitely – let me know what you think…

See you tomorrow,

Paper Pumpkin August 2016 Alternate

It’s time for the first Paper Pumpkin August 2016 Alternate idea. My kit arrived a couple of days ago and I decided to use the stamp set to create a card to enter Pootles’ colour challenge this week. Ever since Sam has extended the length of the challenge, I’ve missed the deadline and this week is no different. Since I share a card for the CAS Colours & Sketches on Thursday and Sam’s challenge finishes early in the morning (in the US) on Friday, the last day that I can enter is actually Wednesday. Still, even though I can’t enter (unless I’m awake at 1am), the card was inspired by Sam’s colours of mint macaron, blushing bride, sweet sugarplum and pool party.

I started by using the Bold Botanicals largest flower and leaves stamp. I first inked it up with versamark and then mint macaron and stamped the image in the corner of a piece of whisper white. After adding the clear embossing powder and heating it for a glossy finish, I repeated that three more times. I next used my aquapainter and mint macaron, blushing bride and sweet sugarplum to colour in the images – it’s so much easier when you’ve heat embossed the image.

I cut down a piece of sweet sugarplum to make a square 4 1/4″ cardbase and glued on my painted panel. To finish off the card, I used one of the sentiments from the set and stamped it in sweet sugarplum. I punched it out using a 1 3/4 inch punch and then cut out a circle using framelits to give a small border. I popped this up with dimensionals.

So that’s the first first Paper Pumpkin August 2016 Alternate – I have a few more ideas to share soon.

See you tomorrow,
