Reverse Words the other

As I mentioned yesterday, one of the new Sale-a-bration releases is Reverse Words and it contains two big stamps. Yesterday I showcased Hooray, today I’m sharing cheers. I happened upon a live video by Alisa Tilsner yesterday showcasing a way to make a watercolored background using a zip lock bag and heat embossing and it solidified in my mind what I wanted to do with the Reverse Words. I’d been inspired by one of the sample in the SAB brochure which used sponge daubers to colour the stamp in yellows and oranges but was leaning towards heat embossing too so I combined the two.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Reverse Words

I started by heat embossing the image from Reverse Words onto watercolor paper with white embossing powder. Then, mostly because I’m out of zip lock bags, at least upstairs in the kitchen, I used a piece of cling film or saran wrap. I used my aquapainter to get half of the paper really wet and tapped my so saffron stamp pad onto the cling film. I then smooshed the colour onto the card, pushing it around with the wrap. Next I did the same thing with peekaboo peach. Lots of fun and I can see doing more cards using this technique. Add more water with your aquapainter to get the effects you want.

I matted the watercolour paper with a piece of peekaboo piece, attaching it with fast fuse to ensure that it was really flat and then put it onto a so saffron card base. A few peekaboo peach enamel shapes pulled it all together.

Reverse Words

There are three new Sale-a-bration products that you can choose for free for every $50 that you spend (before tax and shipping) until the end of March. And here I’m playing with two of them – the set Reverse Words is exactly what it says and has 2 words with a watercolor like background. Then there’s the 6″ by 6″ glimmer paper pack – 12 sheets of three colours of glimmer paper – mint macaron, sweet sugarplum and bermuda bay. Fun stuff!

I went very simple to really show off these products – I stamped my hooray in mint macaron straight onto a thick whisper white card base. I then added a strip of the mint macaron glimmer paper – it’s so sparkly! – and then some mint macaron dots finished it off. How simple – and yet effective – is that?

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Please use the Stampin’ Rewards code to get a selection of ribbon and sequins (6 yards in all, a mini ribbon share if you will) when your order is $30 or more; the current Stampin’ Rewards code is 34ANVEHC (if your order is over $150, don’t use the code, you get the rewards, but you still get the free gift). Here’s an example of the ribbon selection – I’ve just realised that the rich razzleberry is retired so I’ll state that a maximum of one of the ribbons will be retired.

Moon Baby

I seem to have a mental block! I wanted to make a card showcasing the watercolor pencils and decided to make a baby card using the Moon Baby set. Except, I forgot that I needed BOY baby cards and went pink again. LOL.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Moon Baby - Falling Petals TIEF

I stamped the image from Moon Baby (first time I’ve used this image) onto a piece of watercolor paper and used the melon mambo watercolor pencil to lightly add colour to the baby and umbrella and then smoothed out the pencil lines with the blender pen. I added a little more color to the soles and a touch of daffodil delight to the hair. To stop my baby from being totally pale, I added a little calypso coral just to take off the starkness and then matted the watercolor paper with a piece of basic black. Next I pulled out the Falling Petals TIEF – I can’t imagine why this is it’s first outing – and a piece of pink pirouette. I absolutely love this embossing folder, it’s so much fun.

Happy St. David’s Day! Which means it’s March 1st and we’re into the last month of Sale-a-bration. So if there’s anything in the two Sale-a-bration brochures that you can’t live without, you have only got this month to get them!

Beautiful You classic

When I first saw Beautiful You, I knew I was buying the stamp set. And I also could envision the stylish lady in a real red dress. This is actually the first card I made with this set and it’s also the one that I duplicated as the top of a box that I made to house 8 cards.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Beautiful You

It’s another quick and easy card stamped on watercolor paper in archival basic black. But after I’d done that, I decided that rather than watercolor, I’d add the watercolor like swoosh for her dress. Just a quick stamp in real red and the card was complete! I added a basic black border and put that onto a real red card base. It’s a wonderful set to create a set of cards and then a quick box and you’ve got a great gift.

Love Sparkles all Festive

I’ve been meaning to use the Love Sparkles stamp set again for a while now and I finally got around to it at the weekend.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Love Sparkles - Festive

First though, I dry embossed the entire blushing bride card front (before folding my card base) using the Festive TIEF. I like how the dry embossing goes all the way to the edge, but the slight downside (if it is one) is that the debossing is seen on the inside and the card isn’t as sturdy. Still, it looks great! I then heat embossed the Celebrate sentiment from Love Sparkles on very vanilla card – I used the retired blushing bride embossing powder but you could easily ink your stamp with blushing bride ink and then versamark before using the clear embossing powder. The layering ovals framelits were a perfect fit and, since I’d decided to add rhinestones to the sparkly parts of the sentiment, it made sense to add a silver foil mat which I popped up. A really quick and easy, but effective, card.
