Paper Pumpkin April 2017 – A Sara Thing

So Onstage Live is over but I have a stack of new stamp sets and most importantly, a copy of the new catalogue. And theres some great stuff but I can’t even show you the cover until Tuesday. So in the meantime, heres a reminder that the 10th of the month is the deadline to sign up for Paper Pumpkin, the project in a box. This month is very special, the company turned creative control of the April kit over to CEO, Sara Douglass, and the end result is stunning! Her style is, “bold, vibrant, and artistic—with a little bit of sass,” which is exactly how she described the kit. Sara designed this kit for us all, so we can discover creativity through the eyes of the CEO while having an experience that is uniquely US! Get ready to embrace your inner artist and skip to the fun with Sara.

Paper Pumpkin April 2017 – A Sara Thing

It’s almost that time again. Actually that’s true for a number of things: the retiring list next Monday, going to OnStage Live in Amsterdam tomorrow (yes, it’s a long way from NJ, but I’ll get to meet my sister and some friends) and this month’s Paper Pumpkin. This month is very special, the company turned creative control of the April kit over to CEO, Sara Douglass, and the end result is stunning! Beautiful You Duet

I haven’t played with Beautiful You lately; the retirement of the Sale-a-bration items as of today meant that I wanted to play with them as much as possible before losing them. But back to one of my favourite sets now.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Beautiful You

I stamped two of the three images in the archival basic black onto watercolor paper and then used an unusual for me colour combination of tempting turquoise and tangerine tango. It’s good to shake things up a bit. I used an aquapainter to add the color to the ladies and then added the sentiment. The aquapainter is a bit intimidating to start with – I find it’s best not to have too much water in it to start with. It’s easier to control then – unless you’re trying to do a background and spread loads of water.

This card then sat in the box that I made to hold a number of these cards and it just felt slightly unfinished. Fast forward to this morning when I stamped the umbrella onto a scrap of watercolor paper and colored it in using an aquapainter. I cut it out and popped it up with dimensionals. I am really happy with this extra piece – the umbrella now seems so much more lifelike since the girl’s head really is inside the umbrella. I framed this with a skinny mat of basic black and put all of it onto a tempting turquoise card base.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Paper Pumpkin March 2017

The Paper Pumpkin March 2017 boxes are winging their way across the county and some people have already got theirs for this month. Here’s the official video showing it. It looks REALLY cute – can’t wait for mine to get here. And next month’s kit is designed by Sara Douglass, our CEO and includes a sneak peek of one of the upcoming incolors. How exciting is that?

As usual, once mine gets here (I’m in NJ so I’m one of the last to get it I think) I’ll be creating alternative projects with the kit contents.

In case you don’t know what Paper Pumpkin is about, here are the details:

  • Each month you receive a unique, surprise kit with a project. It’s colour-coordinated and everything is pre-cut
  • Each kit includes stamps, ink, paper, accessories and instructions.
  • Each kit gives you about 30 minutes of fun
  • Your Paper Pumpkin ships around the 15th of the month.
  • You need to sign up for a kit by the 10th of the month to get that month’s kit. If you sign up on the 11th of the month, your first kit will come the next month.
  • A Paper Pumpkin subscription is just $19.95 per month (and shipping is included!) There’s no commitment, you can cancel or put your subscription on hold at any time. You can also prepay 1, 3, 6 or 12 months at a time (great gift idea) and save money with the latter 2 options.
  • Once you’re a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, you can buy previous kits as supplies last. Sometimes complete kits are available, at other times, it’s just the consumables so that you can make more.

And don’t forget that during Sale-a-bration (finishing March 31st), for every $50 you spend (before taxes and shipping) you get to select a FREE product from the Sale-a-bration catalogue. A 3 month prepaid Paper Pumpkin is currently on sale ($55 instead of $59), so not only do you get almost a 7% discount, you get to select a Sale-a-bration freebie. What more could you ask for?! Just order as normal at my online store – you can put the code 137859 in the search bar and it will take you right there. Or, even better and what I recently did, prepay for 12 months which saves you $2 off the monthly price AND gets you FOUR freebies; put 137861 in the search bar. And if you use the Stampin’ Rewards code, you’ll also get a selection of ribbon and sequins for free!

Pease use the Stampin’ Rewards code to get a selection of ribbon and sequins (6 yards in all) when your order is $30 or more; the current Stampin’ Rewards code is 34ANVEHC (if your order is over $150, don’t use the code, you get the rewards, but you still get the free gift). Click here to go to my online shop or here to join my team. To sign up for Paper Pumpkin, click here. For more details on my Customer Loyalty Programme, click here.

And don’t forget that during Sale-a-bration, for every $50 you spend (before taxes and shipping) you get to select a FREE product from the Sale-a-bration catalogue. Don’t have paper copies of the catalogs? Drop me an email and I’ll put one in the mail.

Glimmer Paper Assortment Pack

Yesterday I played with the very glittery glimmer paper assortment pack; it’s one of the items that you can choose for free for each $50 spent (before taxes and shipping) during Sale-a-bration. This ends on March 31st, so you need to act fairly swiftly to get your hands on this. And you will want to. It’s so much fun.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Glimmer Paper Assortment Pack - Designer Tin of Cards - Stylish Stems Framelits Dies - Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies

This card was made using the Stylish Stems framelits dies which are awesome. You can cut out the flower or, as I’ve done here, cut a flower in your card and have something peek through, like the sweet sugarplum glimmer paper. It really is the perfect way to show off the glimmer paper. I also used the same dies set to cut out the leaves using the mint macaron glimmer paper.

To hide the fact that the ends of my leaves were all over the place and to finish off the card, I used a sentiment from Designer Tin of Cards which was still out after my playing for the last few days and sweet sugarplum ink. After trying a few mats, I decided to keep it simpler and cut out my sentiment using the Stitched Shapes framelits dies. I love these – they add just enough interest to the card to negate the need for a mat so they are perfect in a case like here where a mat was just too fussy.

Don’t forget that Sale-a-bration free products are now whilst supplies last. So if you want the glimmer paper assortment pack, (or any of the others), I’d advise ordering sooner rather than later.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Please use the Stampin’ Rewards code to get a free selection of ribbon and sequins (6 yards in all) when your order is $30 or more; the current Stampin’ Rewards code is 34ANVEHC (if your order is over $150, don’t use the code, you get the rewards, but you still get the free gift).
