Happy Home Reprise

I really liked yesterday’s image from Happy Home so I decided to use it again. This was when I realised that I could add two of the images together for a simple scene. This card looks simple but it took me quite a few tries. I tried doing the watercolouring first and last but although the black didn’t run, it was better to do it first.

Stampin' Up! Happy Home

So for this, I used watercolour paper and got it quite wet and laid down a pale wash of pacific point. I tried marina mist which made more sense to me, but the pacific point created a much more realistically coloured sky. For the bottom third of the card, I changed to pear pizzazz. The heat tool was invaluable here to speed up the drying process.

Then I stamped the 2 images from Happy Home using my stamp-a-ma-jig so that I got them to line up together and also so that the delineation between sky and grass was right. After that I used my daffodil stampin’ write marker to colour the child’s shirt and also the flowers. Finally I glued the watercolour paper onto a daffodil delight card base.

What issues did I have? There was smudging of the black as I did my colouring, also I managed to mess up the stamping of the boy by adding some extra black into the middle of that stamp. I tried to turn it into birds but it wasn’t working! I also tried stamping first and then doing the watercolouring but the wash became too “careful” looking. I’m happy with this one!

Happy Friday. See you tomorrow,

Liz

Announcing my Customer Loyalty Programme

Yesterday I shared that I was almost ready to announce my Customer Loyalty Programme (or Program seeing as I live in NJ!). Well, today’s the day! I’m really excited about this because I want to reward my customers for shopping with me. There are going to be two ways to get rewards and yes, this is one time where double dipping is acceptable.

Firstly, there’s going to be a Stampin’ Rewards code (formerly hostess rewards) which you use when you are creating an order under $150. If you spend the month’s target amount (it will change) I will send you the month’s free gift with your thank you card. If you spend over $150 with me, then please don’t use the hostess code – you will earn your own Stampin’ Rewards and I want you to get them! I’ll still send you the free gift and a thank you card – as long as you don’t check the no contact box! If you do that, I can’t send you anything because I won’t know who you are.

Secondly – and possibly this is more exciting – when you spend $400 with me (product total, not including shipping and taxes), you get to spend $40 for free in a current catalogue. All you have to do is track your spending with me and when you reach $400 send me an email with your name, email, mailing address, and order numbers and totals (not including tax or shipping) and what you’d like to spend your $40 on. This is an offer from me, not Stampin’ Up! Here’s one of the best parts – there is no time limit on your orders, so if you take 6 months or 6 years to spend $400 with me, it makes no difference. You still earn $40 to spend in a current catalogue.

To qualify, your $400 does not include taxes or shipping nor any extra payments you made towards items bought with Stampin’ Rewards dollars or 50% off items.

Thirdly – if you’ve bought from me in the last year, you’ll receive the current Stampin’ Up! catalogues from me when they are available.

I have to say that my customer loyalty programme is of course subject to change.

So to recap:

If you buy less than $150 from me, use the Stampin’ Rewards code that will be on my blog each month and, if you meet the target amount for the month, you get the free gift. If you buy more than $150, don’t use the Stampin’ Rewards code, spend your own Stampin’ Rewards and still get the free gift.

Track your purchases and when you reach $400 email me to get your $40 in free product.

So to get started – this month’s Stampin’ Rewards code is  RJ6V9VRQ. If you spend just $50 with me and enter this code, I’ll send you the It’s My Party enamel dots which I’ll order once the workshop closes on 24th April. If you spend more than $150 with me, don’t use my code, spend the Stampin’ Rewards and I’ll still send you your enamel dots. And don’t forget to add your order to your list to get to the $400 you need for the $40 free.

It's My Party Enamel Dots by Stampin' Up!

I’ll point out that $50 is the amount that you need to spend to get a freebie from the Sale-a-bration promotion going on currently which ends on Thursday. So do yourself a favour – spend $50 with me, get free enamel dots, get a freebie from the Sale-a-bration catalogue AND get a start on working towards your $40 in free product!

If you’ve already ordered with me, your earlier orders all count towards the $400 total.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

I’ll create a Customer Loyalty Programme page soon so that the details are easy to find.

See you tomorrow,

Liz

Cupcake Party

This isn’t really the card I should be making seeing as I’ve put on weight so far this year with a cold, bronchitis and now my sprained ankle (improving a lot) but perhaps I should look at it as this is the only cupcake I should  be seeing! I used the sketch from CAS on Sundays again but you can only enter once so this one is just for us.

Stampin' Up! Cup Cake Party and Have a Cuppa DSP and cupcake builder punch

I’d decided that I wanted to use the Cupcake Party set and that drove the selection of the cupcake paper from Have a Cuppa DSP stack. I trimmed it down carefully ensuring that I had enough left over from the 6″ by 6″ piece to line the envelope. Perfect. Since I planned to mat the piece of whisper white on wisteria wonder before putting it on a cherry cobbler card base, I had to cut back the whisper white from my standard 5 1/4 by 4 which ensured that the DSP was absolutely right to the edge of the card stock. I then stamped the sentiment in cherry cobbler along the line of the DSP. Next I played with the Cupcake Party cupcakes and the punch until I decided on an all red cupcake. I glued the cupcake together and then popped it up with dimensionals.

I then matted the whisper white on the wisteria wonder and glued that to the cherry cobbler card base. I got the colour combination from the colour coach ignoring the addition of pink pirouette. I tried to add it in, but it just didn’t work. The envelope is lined as planned with the remainder of the Have a cuppa DSP.

I love symmetry so this is an odd card for me, but I really like this sketch.

We have just a couple of weeks left of Sale-a-bration so remember that for every $50 you spend before April 1st (before taxes and shipping) you get to select a free item. Also, if you’re thinking about becoming a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, this is the best time of year because you get $155 of product that you choose for only $99 with free shipping instead of $125 normally. How can you go wrong with this deal? If you want to sign up, just for the $155 of product, that’s fine. If you want to sign up just for the 20-25% discount, that’s fine too. If you want to build a business, that’s fine. But if you sign up, just know that there are no strings attached. You don’t have to buy anything more if you don’t want to. It’s a great deal.

See you tomorrow,

Picture Perfect Hummingbird

There’s quite a lot of stamping on today’s card which just used the Picture Perfect set – the hummingbird is 4 steps and the flowers and leaves are three. And then there’s all the fussy cutting – all the stamping meant that it was a lot safer to cut out the pieces. I didn’t want to have the final stamping mess up the whole card. So the flowers are completely in melon mambo – I stamped off twice for the first stamping, once for the second and used full strength ink for the final stamp. I then added some glitter with the Wink of Stella on the darkest parts.

Stampin' Up! Picture Perfect

For the leaves I used mint macaron stamped off once, then full strength and finished the stamping off with cucumber crush. I discovered that stamping off onto a piece of grid paper that had some rich razzleberry stamping off on it wasn’t a good idea. It took me a while to figure out why I had slightly off coloured leaves since I wasn’t looking at the grid paper when stamping off! I cut out my leaves and flowers last weekend and then worked on something else. Today I cut out the hummingbird so the fussy cutting didn’t seem too arduous and it’s only as I sat down to type this post that I realised that everything on this card was fussy cut. The colours used for the bird are cucumber crush, melon mambo, old olive and mossy meadow. Oh and there’s a little more wink of Stella there too.

Next was construction! I’d advise stamping the sentiment first although I didn’t do that. I started by placing the flowers and leaves and then gluing the leaves where I wanted them. Next I added the flowers that are falling off the edge and finally popped up the whole flower. I also popped up the hummingbird to give him more of a sense of movement.

Finally I lined the envelope with the 2015-2017 in color DSP stack and the envelope liners framelits. This whole card feels very Spring like and happy and this liner continues that. I showed the card to my brother telling him that I didn’t think he’d like it. He didn’t. I’ve yet to make a card combining pink and green that he likes – for some reason he just doesn’t like them together. I do though, so that’s okay!

Somebody submitted a Stampin’ Up! order naming me as their demonstrator yesterday (thank you very much), but checked the No contact box. This means that I can’t send you a thank you card. So if it was you, please reach out to me so that I can thank you properly with a card.

See you tomorrow,

Liz

Memories in the making

Yesterday I had computer problems as in, nothing would open. The reboot didn’t work either – I’m opening a ticket with the HIT desk – i.e. the Home IT desk, my brother. There’s clearly an issue with my computer – I’m hoping it behaves long enough for me to write this post. Because here’s my design team card for the new challenge at CAS Colour & Sketches and you need to check the challenge out!

It’s almost Pi day. As in March 14th. I’m a mathematician, or at least I majored in maths so I feel that it’s important. And obviously, there had to be a circle on the card. Here’s a card you can share with your geeky friends.

Stampin' Up! Memories in the making

I hand wrote the pi symbol since there’s no stamp for it (definitely a lack!) in cherry cobbler on very vanilla and then attached it to a window sheet from the Memories in the Making set that is a Sale-a-bration freebie. I attached this with glue dots to the back of a piece of cherry cobbler where the window was cut with the squares framelits collection. This was then glued to a cherry cobbler card base.

This was fun to make – especially using items that are made for memory keeping. We can definitely repurpose!

Happy Pi Day.

See you tomorrow,

Liz
