Happiest of Days

Here’s a card that we made recently in a class using Happiest of Days. It’s a very fun sketch set that could be used for weddings or birthdays.

We stamped the presents (all one image) in archival basic black and then the sentiment in lemon lime twist. Looking back over the month, it’s starting to look as if this may be my favourite colour which is amusing since this was the one that I was only planning to use for pops of colour! The presents are coloured in using the new tranquil tide and lemon lime twist markers taking care not to have the stripes and spots all symmetrical – I think it looks better that way.

To pull the card together, I used a very skinny mat of tranquil tide and layered that on a lemon lime twist card base leaving a nice deep border. I’m enjoying experimenting with different sized borders; it completely changes the look of the card.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Tranquil Tulips

Today I’m sharing the host set, Tranquil Tulips. I absolutely adore this set – tulips are one of my two favourite flowers, freesias being the others for their scent. And the 2 step stamp set is perfect to make realistic – but watercolored – tulips. The texture in the flowers is really beautiful.

Here I stamped the stems and leaf first in pear pizzazz. If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that pear pizzazz is one of my favourites and I’m thrilled that it goes so well with berry burst. I stamped off once before stamping the back of the tulips and then used the second stamp full strength for the front of the tulip. There are stamps for the stamens, but I felt that they were unnecessary in this instance. I used Bunch of Blossoms for the beautiful sentiment, stamped again in berry burst and then mounted my piece of whisper white onto a mat of pear pizzazz just 1/8 inch larger. This went onto a berry burst card base. I used this design for a recent class and it was popular as well as easy to mass produce.

You can only purchase hostess sets by either holding a workshop or placing a large enough order – they kick in at an order of $150 at 10% of the order total. This set is only $10 so at an order of $150 you can also order something else.

Love Today Planner Kit

I wanted to share the Stampin’ Up! Love Today Planner Kit video; the planner is full of awesome extra – stickers, sticky notes, pockets, photo protector pages as well as the standard things like monthly view pages, weekly pages, monthly tabs. It might seem odd to introduce a planner in June, but since no dates are printed, you can start with any year that you like.

And the pages are thick enough that you can stamp on them. Personally, I’m going to be using the Tabs for Everything stamp set – it’s got loads of little cute pictures and handy planning words. Isn’t that perfect?

Ribbon of Courage

I was challenged to CASE a card from the new catalog and wow, there’s a lot of choice! Here’s my CASE from page 33 where there’s a card using More Than Chocolate which I’ve remade using Ribbon of Courage and the Natural Eclectic DSP.

I’ve switched the stamped background to use the Natural Eclectic DSP in lemon lime twist and fresh fig and then used the fabulous sentiment from Ribbon of Courage stamped in more lemon lime twist on my whisper white panel. I copied the layout from the card in the catalog and added a lemon lime twist mat and a ribbon – instead of baker’s twine, I used the 1/8 inch sheer ribbon in fresh fig. I debated between a whisper white card base and a lemon lime twist one but the latter looked more striking and exciting.

Here’s the card that I CASE-d

I haven’t purposely CASE-d from the catalog before but there’s loads of inspiration there – I’m definitely going to do this again. I don’t think I’d have thought of adding the ribbon like this and it’s rather fun.

This Little Piggy

Today I’m sharing another card featuring This Little Piggy which, as I’ve mentioned before, is an adorable stamp set. But this time I’ve included the Oh My Stars new embossing folder. I love how embossing folders can add such great texture to a project with such ease.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - This Little Piggy - Oh My Stars

So here I’ve used a pop of lemon lime twist embossed with the Oh My Stars folder. I could’ve done an entire layer, but I feel that just the small piece makes a bigger statement. And it leaves a lot of the Berry Burst uncovered. My pig is stamped in the archival basic black and after leaving it to dry, I used an aquapainter and powder pink and lemon lime twist to color the pig and the grass. For the flower, I used my stampin’ write markers – hard to get a big wash of color in the little spaces. The hooves were done with an early espresso watercolor pencil. I guess I was just using all the possibilities! I framed the watercolor paper with some basic black to pull it all together and popped it up with dimensionals. What do you think? Time to get out This Little Piggy yourself?
