Amsterdam Swaps

As you know, I hopped on a plane to go to the Onstage Live last week (only an 8 hour trip!); I wanted to share some of the Amsterdam swaps that I got there. Here’s the bookmark made by my friend Claire Kruse which now resides in my new Stampin’ Up! catalog. I believe she had a lot of fun using the bookcase builder set making these.

Here’s an example using Beautiful You, made by mixing crystal effect with reinkers, by Suriya Goodlett.

Beautiful You was a very popular stamp set for swaps – it was one of about half a dozen sets that Stampin’ Up! told us were carrying over into the new annual catalogue so that we could make swaps with non-retiring sets if we wanted. Here’s an example from Rebecca Linfield

Here’s a fun fold card made by Charlotte Regnouard – so much fun it needs two photos to show it off:

And I’m finishing off today’s parade of cards with another Beautiful You example, this one from Yvonne Bevan.

I hope you enjoyed today’s parade of swap cards and that hopefully they gave you some inspiration. I have another post coming up showcasing the 3D projects that I received.

Party Animal DSP

Designer Series Paper always retires with the catalog, and Party Animal DSP is no different. I’ve just checked and this is still available but it is whilst supplies last. So as usual, if you want it, get it quickly.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Party Animal DSP - Endless Birthday Wishes

This is a very simple layout and quick to make but changing the paper and the depth of the band makes it look a whole new card. It’s a useful layout to have in your back pocket for when you need a quick card or when you just want to showcase some designer series paper. Here I cut a piece of the Party Animal DSP to the depth that gave me an elephant and a hedgehog because I like them – simple as that! Then I took a piece of emerald envy card stock and made it 1/8 inch deeper to give a little mat. The sentiment is also in emerald envy – it’s from Endless Birthday Wishes, a stamp set that I have used extensively in the past but is currently on the retiring list. This, like all stamp sets, will be made until May 22nd and then as supplies last up to the end of May.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Gift Box Punch Board

Okay, here’s another product on the retiring list that you need to grab immediately – the gift box punch board. It’s even on sale and only $12 instead of $20. It’s also only available whilst supplies last and it’s scary how fast things are selling out. All of the retiring in-colors ink refills are gone already. So my advice to you is do it now! You can make all sorts of sized boxes easily.

Here’s Stampin’ Up!’s video showing how to use it – it’s simple.

There are so many products that are retiring, and so many at a discount that it’s almost overwhelming. But if you missed a few in your first order, it’s okay to go round again. Personally, it appears that the UPS van will be visiting my house twice next week!

Stylish Stems Framelits Dies

I love the Stylish Stems Framelits Dies. They are gorgeous and allow you to create some really fun cards and they are on the retiring list and right now, they are in LOW inventory status. They are also 40% off and only $18.60 – a no brainer. Go ahead and snap them up right now! (host code A2XGZS79).

I’m also showcasing a new (to me) technique – the shaving foam technique. I took a wooden stamp case and sprayed shaving foam into it, and levelled it out somewhat with a chopstick (a plastic knife would be easier). Then I added drops of melon mambo, pumpkin pie and daffodil delight and mixed these up a little with my chopstick and then pressed a piece of whisper white into it. I scraped off the excess and then blotted it with a paper towel. I ended up with a beautiful swirly pattern on the card. I mixed up my foam again and went again. I also did the same technique with dapper denim, pear pizzazz and soft sky and produced the following. You can see the progression from right to left as the ink was more mixed and then on the fourth and fifth pieces I added extra drops, first of soft sky and then pear pizzazz. I didn’t get a picture of the one I’m using today – I loved it so much, it was cut up before I thought!

So for today’s card, I cut the flower in the base and then positioned a piece of my patterned paper behind it. Next I cut out the the outline of the small flowers twice in the patterned paper and using two of the framelits, cut out the peek through small flower and then cut it out from the card. I carefully mounted this onto my patterned pieces to produce the two small beautiful flowers. I popped these up on dimensionals. The celebrate comes from the Endless Birthday Wishes (also retiring and at just $16 a fabulously versatile set – I use it all of the time). The card base is actually watermelon wonder because after the colours were mixed, it was the perfect choice!

I hope you enjoyed today’s project and if you go to buy either of these products that you’re lucky enough to find them still in inventory! The Retiring List is live

The retiring list is live and things are going fast. Just last night, I checked the list and two of the retiring in-colors (watermelon wonder and delightful dijon) ink refills are gone. Don’t Delay! If you want something, grab it now before it’s not available. Here’s the list. It’s not being updated in this pdf so you’re risking it being sold out as you delay.

The things that I’m most upset about (apart from mint macaron) are the Stylish Stems and Special Reason bundle; if you’re buying them, don’t get the bundle, the separate parts are on sale for $33.60 in total instead of $45.75 for the bundle. It’s an awesome duet of products – here are a couple of examples of cards I’ve made with them (and I have another to share tomorrow)

Then there’s the Acorny Thank You ($15) and the Acorn Builder Punch (on sale at $12.60). Here are a few cards I’ve made with these

and Grateful Bunch ($21)

But basically, take a look and if there’s anything you fancy, get it now. There’s a lot there and over 90 items are discounted. But they are going fast. Use the code A2XGZS79 to get free handmade cards.
