More alternatives for No Matter the Weather

I pulled out some notecards – and using some ink was able to make an alternative card with ease.

The flowered boots are really fun – my tip is to stamp the flowered part first and then add the outline. There’s only just enough room on a notecard for 3 sets, so start at the edge. I used daffodil delight, mango melody and poppy parade with memento black stamped off once. The plants are stamped in old olive. I used the triple banner punch to make an inch wide banner which I popped up using dimensionals.

If you’d like to see a video of me making this, I do FaceBook Lives on my page My Elegant Cards on Sundays at 11am. I then upload it to my YouTube channel – My Elegant Cards with Liz Bailey

Playful Penguins with Pigment Sprinkles

Here are the Playful Penguins (150532) again. There’s a brilliant card in the catalogue which inspired this one. I used pigment sprinkles for my background though – and only the bermuda bay. I first tried just sponging on inks but it go muddy. I like the variety that I got with the one pigment sprinkles.

I used water color paper and a spritzer plus a paper towel to blot it to get this effect. I matter it in black which also helps with the curving tendency of watercolor paper that has been well drenched  I then went on a search for the perfect card base – turned out to be shaded spruce! The penguin is stamped in memento black with a blueberry bushel bow tie. A few of the Woven Threads sequins finished it off.

Playful Penguins

This week I’m using (again) the Playful Penguins set (150532) which gives you 12 cling stamps with 3 adorable penguins and 3 ways to dress them up. I decided to use all of the penguins and the accessories on a single card.

Aren’t they adorable?!

I used the memento tuxedo black ink and real red. I think the finishing touch is the puff paint.

Beauty and Joy again

I’m here with my second card using the Beauty and Joy set. I don’t think that I’d have made this card without my “2 cards per week from a set” challenge that I set myself. That would have been a shame since I really love this card. The gold pot has a lot more texture than in the photo, I just couldn’t get it to show properly. You’ll just have to make it yourself and see how beautiful it is.

The pot and berries are heat embossed in gold, the trunk is soft suede and the greenery is mossy meadow. I’m so glad that Mossy Meadow came back in last year’s colour refresh, I’ve missed it.

Now I’m off to work on this month’s tutorial card – it’s currently drying. It will be available for free starting in January.

Nature’s Beauty

The  week’s product that I’m focusing on is the Nature’s Beauty cling stamp set. It costs $21 (150528) but the best part is that Stampin’ Up! donates $3 to mental health organisations for every stamp set sold. And it’s a really nice set. Win win!

I used old olive for the trees, text and card base and stamped the fox in memento tuxedo black ink. Next I used the cajun craze light and dark blends to color the fox including a little pretty peacock for his eyes. I extended the hill that he was sitting on to bring him more into the forefront and then added the snowfall accents puff paint which you apply and then heat to make it puff. It’s really fun.

Nature’s Beauty also contains a bunny and a deer and with the shading on the stamp itself it’s easy to color without having to worry about adding your own shadows. Perfect.
