Winter Wonder TIEF

I’ve been suffering with insomnia over the past few days but decided rather than thinking about all the things on my to do list, I’d design a card in my head. And this is more or less it. I hadn’t visualised the ribbon and the sentiment is a different shape, but the idea is there! My starting point was the Winter Wonder TIEF. I have to say that designing this was a very relaxing way of passing the time at 4am!

You can’t see it in the photo, but this is the shimmery white paper, so there’s a delicate sparkle to all of the white paper – including the tag since I needed it to match. I started with the dry embossing and then added a strip of the brand new real red 1/8 inch solid ribbon. I missed it on my preorder, somehow I just didn’t notice it in the catalog. It’s lovely ribbon with a good temperament. Next the sentiment from Star of Light stamped in real red and cut out with the layering ovals framelits dies. I added a scalloped mat in real red too. I popped these up and added a little bow so that the card looks just like a little gift. Which it really is.

This will be one of the cards that we make at my next Christmas card class on Monday September 18th. There are still some spaces if you are interested.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.

Merry Patterns Host Promotion

Wow! There’s an exciting new promotion that runs until the end of October and it’s all about free!  Throughout September and October any order that is $300 or more will receive the Merry Patterns absolutely free on top of all the other Stampin’ Rewards. That’s a single customer order, or get together with a friend to reach the total (you’ll have to share the stamp set!) or host a workshop and earn it totally free. Do you want to earn it? I think you do. Here’s a video where Brandi from head office introduces it

And here’s a close up of the set – you can see that there are outlines images and filled in ones so you can have fun customising the look. And it’s a photopolymer set so it’s easy to see what you’re doing.

I don’t have my set yet – it’s only available to demonstrators for the same two months, but here are some samples from head office to show you how it all comes together.

I can’t wait to play with it – I’m off to peruse the catalog right now!

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.

Watercolor Christmas Project Kit

I shared with you the four designs that are in the Watercolor Christmas Project Kit at couple of days ago – you can see them here. They are very quick to make and economical at $20 for the kit which makes 20 cards (stamp set extra); very handy to get ahead in your Christmas card making. Here’s the official Stampin’ Up! video showcasing the kit.

Since the kit doesn’t include the stamp set, buying multiples of the Watercolor Christmas Project kit doesn’t give you extras that you don’t need and keeps the price per card very reasonable. I’m also planning to make more cards with the stamp set to add to the value – maybe with notecards.

Merry Mistletoe

Here’s the third card that we made at class on Monday. It features a new Christmas set in the annual catalog, Merry Mistletoe and one that was carried over from last year’s holiday catalogue, Flurry of Wishes.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Merry Mistletoe - Flurry of Wishes

We started by stamping the snowflakes from Flurry of Wishes (two sizes on one stamp) in craft white ink onto night of navy. This ink takes a while to dry so you can either leave it for a while or use the heating tool on the first setting to help it along. Either way, take care not to smudge it whilst it’s drying. Next we took the beautiful deer from Merry Mistletoe and stamped it in versamark and heat embossed it with silver embossing powder. With a mat of silver foil, it really pops. The sentiment is also from Flurry of Wishes and we stamped it in night of navy and cut it out with the layering oval framelits.

I was asked if I like the thick whisper white card stock. I absolutely love it – it’s all that I use now for white card bases. I still use the ordinary whisper white for layers and inside the card, but there’s no comparison for the base. The new thick card stock is so much more sturdy.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.

Vertical Greetings

Vertical Greetings is a stamp set from last year’s annual catalogue which I was thrilled to see carry over into this year’s. It’s unusual in that the greetings are, well, vertical which can be extremely useful. I also love the images of the neat adorable topiary. And they are good for Christmas cards. Last night I had one or two (well eight) people over to start on holiday cards but since the new catalogue isn’t live until September, I didn’t want to taunt them with images that they couldn’t order. So out came Vertical Greetings and the Holly textured embossing folder.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Vertical Greetings - Holly TIEF

The group was divided as to how to ink up the stamp; some used the straight edge of the ink pad to carefully ink up the desired part of the image and then used the second ink pad for the rest. Others used markers. It’s just a personal choice. But the real red and old olive look awesome together on this image and if there’s a slight issue where the colours change, the old olive 1/8 inch sheer ribbon bow covers it perfectly! We made the old olive pop a little more by adding a mat in the same colour. This then went on top of the real red piece that was dry embossed with the Holly TIEF and then placed on a real red card base. The finishing touches were a few sparkly rhinestones.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.
