Better Places

Last week I focused on the host set, Better Places but due to sickness didn’t get the second and third cards blogged. So I’ll post one of them today and one tomorrow.

The Better Places host set really lends itself to clean and simple cards which you know are my favourite type. This stamp was colored with Stampin’ Write markers in Balmy Blue, Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent. After huffing on the stamp to moisten the ink, it was stamped onto a piece of Whisper White. This was then matted in Evening Evergreen. Finally one of the sentiments was stamped directly onto the card base also in Evening Evergreen.

Check out my Facebook Live that I did on Sunday at 11am EDT or you can also see it on YouTube. Share my Live and I’ll add you to my raffle for next week.

Better Places

This week I decided to focus on the host set, Better Places.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Better Places

The obvious thing to do with the Better Places stamp set is to color it using blends, watercolor pencils or even the new Soft Pastels assortment. So I decided to start with heat embossing in silver!

This makes it a very simple and easy to create card. The cardstock is Blackberry Bliss and after heat embossing the image, it was matted with silver foil.

A friend of mine recently was selecting cards to take home to his wife who is very fond of sending cards. It works out well – I make too many and she needs a lot! She was apparently looking for non-sentiment ones which is what I always looked for when buying cards. Of course I haven’t bought any since I started making them. But when I make a card, I now consider whether a sentiment would add to it, or whether it’s just a habit.

And I don’t think that adding a sentiment is needed here. What do you think?

Join me on Sunday at 11am EDT on Facebook when I’ll show how I made this along with 2 other cards. Share my live and be put into my raffle. See you then.

Beauty of the Earth DSP

Here is a tiny snippet of the Beauty of the Earth DSP – and you could make a lot of these. I’m guessing at least 60!

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Beauty of the Earth DSP - Beauty of Friendship

The line of trees were cut from a piece of the Beauty of the Earth DSP which has masses of them. It was matted on Mossy Meadow card stock. Next it was positioned over a Whisper White card base to give the position for the sentiment. The sentiment comes from the Beauty of Friendship and was stamped in Mossy Meadow. Only then was the matted DSP attached to the card base just in case of a stamping issue.

I really like the simple elegance of this card. I showed making it earlier today at my normal 11am EDT Facebook live. You can check out the replay.

Beauty of the Earth DSP

Here is a different pattern from the Beauty of the Earth DSP paired with the Stitched Rectangle dies.

Using a piece of the Beauty of the Earth DSP (2 by 5 1/2 inches) it was matted with Mossy Meadow.  This was then added to a Whisper White card base. The sentiment comes from the Beauty of Friendship and was stamped in Mossy Meadow and cut out with the Stitched Rectangle dies. After adding the sentiment with dimensionals, a few opal rounds were added.

I’ll be showing this card and 2 others on Sunday at my normal 11am EDT Facebook live. I hope that you can join me – or check out the replay.

Beauty of the Earth DSP

I’ve been drooling over the new patterned papers from Stampin’ Up!’s new annual catalog and decided to feature the Beauty of the Earth DSP this week. I started with a very simple card.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Beauty of the Earth DSP

I cut a piece of the Beauty of the Earth DSP down to 3 3/4 by 5 inches to allow room for a tiny Merry Merlot mat. This was then added to a Whisper White card base – yes I still have some thick Whisper White left! The sentiment comes from the Beauty of Friendship, part of the suite that the Beauty of the Earth DSP belongs to. It was stamped in Merry Merlot and I was delighted to find that this die fit it perfectly – it’s from the All Dressed up dies.

The retirement of the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies forced me to look for other options and now I’m glad about it. I wasn’t at the time since I used them so much, but it’s much better to have to find other options.

I’ll be showing this card and 2 others on Sunday at my normal 11am EDT Facebook live so do join me.
