Oh so ombre

This week I’m using the Sale-a-bration designer series paper, Oh so ombre. It’s 48 sheets of 6 by 6 inch paper in 2 designs and 4 colors – blackberry bliss, Bermuda bay, granny apple green and rococo rose. Sadly right now, it’s backordered, but is expected to be available January 25.

I also used the new Sweet Ice Cream stamp set as the focal point of my card.  This lollipop was made using Terracotta Tile and Blackberry Bliss along with some wink of Stella and the new gorgeous blackberry bliss ribbon. It was matted in blackberry bliss and layered onto the Oh So Ombre DSP. The sentiment also came from the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set and is stamped in Blackberry Bliss and cut out using the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies.

I’ll be using the patterned side of the Oh So Ombre paper on Friday, this time using Bermuda Bay. I’ll be showing this card and 2 others at my Facebook Live on Sunday at 11am EST. Want a chance to win a prize? Share my Facebook live – and tell me so – and I’ll put you in my weekly raffle.

Darling Donkeys

Here’s the third card this week using the adorable Darling Donkeys set. I’ll be showing the three cards live today on my Facebook Live at 11am EST.

I used a few more colors for the watercoloring on this card – real red and old olive as well as the basic grey. The insides of the ears, the muzzle, the tail and the hooves were also highlighted using Wink of Stella. This was matted on real red and positioned on a piece of Very Vanilla embossed using the Parisian Flourish 3D embossing folder. Before attaching that all to the real red card base, the ribbon was wrapped around the panel. The final touch was the Real Red sentiment cut out, as usual, with the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies.

Come and join me and the Darling Donkeys at 11am EST today and we’ll have some fun.

Darling Donkeys

This week I’m showing cards made with the adorable Darling Donkeys set. I’m also in a bit of a Very Vanilla phase in case any of you haven’t got the new Basic White replacement for the Whisper White.

Like Wednesday’s card this is also very simple to make and gives you some more watercoloring practice. As before, the donkey was stamped in Smoky Slate and then the Basic Grey watercolor pencil was used to lightly cover the body, and to emphasize all lines. The blender pen removed the pencil lines and moved a little of the color around. I then added a tiny bit of red lipstick using the Real Red watercolor pencil! The sentiment, also from Darling Donkeys was stamped in Blackberry Bliss and cut out, along with the donkey using the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies. But you probably knew that if you’ve been following me for a while!

I stamped a very vanilla layer in more Blackberry Bliss and added a mat before putting it onto a Very Vanilla card base. The donkey’s circle was stuck to the card but the sentiment was popped up with dimensionals.

The final touch was this absolutely gorgeous Blackberry Bliss ribbon (154569, $7). If you order nothing else from this post, you absolutely need the ribbon!

Darling Donkeys

This week – now that I have weaned myself a little off the total focus on the Flower and Field DSP, I’m showcasing the adorable Darling Donkeys set.

This is a very simple card to make and a great introduction to watercoloring. The donkey was stamped in Smoky Slate and then the Basic Grey watercolor pencil was used to lightly cover the body, and to emphasize all lines. The blender pen removed the pencil lines and moved a little of the color around. The piece of Very Vanilla was trimmed until it “looked right” and then a Magenta Madness mat was added. To complete the card all that was needed was the sentiment, also from Darling Donkeys, stamped in Magenta Madness. It was cut out using the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies and popped up with dimensionals.

I’m wondering if I should challenge myself to not use these framelits for a week!

Flower and Field DSP Box

Last week I was showing cards using one of the free Designer Series papers that you can earn for free with a $50 order, the Flower and Field DSP. I got a little carried away and continued to make more cards. Once I had 8, I decided I needed a box to put them in along with envelopes.

I based this box on one I saw Ronda Wade make. She pointed out that the piece of thicker board at the back of the DSP pack (the one that has the colours listed) is perfect for box building.

First cut your card to 12 by 8.5 inches. Then proceed to score and 1 1/4 and 7 1/4 (or 1 1/4 from each end). Then score the long side at 1/2, 1 1/4, 4 1/2, 6 1/4 and 7 3/4. Fold on your score lines.

If you want to add DSP with mats, here’s what you need: Mats: (one regular sheet of cardstock) 2 of each: 4 1/8 by 5 5/8, 1 1/8 by 5 5/8 and 1 1/8 by 4/18.

For the DSP to go on the mats, you’ll need a sheet of 12 by 5 1/2 and cut 2 of each: 4 by 5 1/2, 1 by 5 1/2 and 1 by 4. Adhere the DSP to the matching mats and then to the box skeleton. You can also just stamp your own design on the card before scoring if you prefer.

Cut out and remove the black colored boxes and cut up the sides of the magenta ones. Put strong glue on the RIGHT SIDE of the magenta boxes and cut off a little triangle from them so your box will close better.

Finally put glue on the inside of the cinnamon cider boxes and finish making your box.

I made a belly band 1 1/4 inch wide using So Saffron but of course it’s only 11 inches long. So I attached the sentiment, cut out on a Stitched Shapes Framelits dies, and fixed the ends of the belly band to it. Just be careful not to make it too tight. I’m going to make the box next Sunday on my live and show you how easy it is. It sounds complicated, but it really isn’t.

I hope that you’ll make an order so that you can get this beautifully happy paper. I’ve already redeemed it twice! My live showing three cards that I’ve blogged about using the Flower and Field DSP is on both Facebook and YouTube if you want to have a look.
