Paper Pumpkin Layered Leaves

I completely forgot to share the video for the Paper Pumpkin Layered Leaves kit. It makes 8 adorable pillow boxes and accompanying cards. I hope to get my kit out to play this weekend – and I’m definitely planning on some alternate cards. The sentiments are really excellent.

The refill kit is currently available – just $8 for all of the consumables to make another 8 boxes and cards. It’s even a great refill to get if you didn’t have the original kit with the stamp set. You could still layer the leaves (love the gold metallic one) and use another sentiment to tie onto the packages.

Sign up for October’s kit by the 10th and you’ll get the first of two coordinating kits with the second being available in November. You don’t need both kits to complete the projects but they contain perfectly coordinated Christmas cardmaking and gifting projects.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.

Merry Patterns

I had a play with the candles from the Merry Patterns and I love them. I’m banning myself from making another Christmas card until I’ve made a non-Chrismassy one!

I started with the outline in archival black and then use real red and tranquil tide to fill in the candles. It took me a couple of attempts to get it right – you need to ensure that you look at both the left and right candles when lining up. Same with the candle flames – I’d got it slightly off on the right hand side which meant that it was quite off on the left. But that was a test piece, or had become one, because I’d used my embossing buddy and smeared the archival black ink. It’s essential that it’s completely dry before you use the buddy – for the replacement I used the heat tool on the lowest setting!

I added the evergreens, also in tranquil tide and then mounted this piece on a piece of gold foil to match the flames. The finishing touch was a little bow using the real red 1/8 inch solid ribbon.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.

Snowflake Sentiments Bundle

Julia and I were flicking through the Christmas catalog at the weekend as she wanted to put in an order to get the Blends and to take advantage of the buy 3 get 4 paper sale and we came across the Snowflake Sentiments Bundle.  “Does one of us have this” she asked? I searched through our orders and discovered that no, neither of us had it. We live about 10-15 minutes from each other (it depend who’s driving!) so for some sets only one of us gets them. There are many of course where we both need them in our own craft room! We immediately added it to her order shocked that somehow we’d messed that up. We’ve decided that for the next catalog, we need to mark carefully who has what so that it’s obvious if we’ve overlooked something both of us thinking that the other one of us has it.

So since we don’t have the Snowflake Sentiments Bundle yet, here’s the Stampin’ Up! video showing how beautiful it is. No. I can’t understand how we missed this either!

Merry Patterns

I did indeed have enough energy to make a card yesterday and as planned, it was Merry Patterns. My friend Julia and I sat at my table and had a lovely hour or two, playing with stamps and ink and paper and chatting. It really shouldn’t be this much fun!! And you get cards made so that it’s productive fun.

My sister Caro was playing around with Merry Patterns last week and one of her test pieces was a gold embossed deer in a sweater. I loved it, so that’s where I started. I embossed him in the corner on very vanilla so that there was room to add the sentiment. Technically the sentiment is a two step stamp with holly on the letters, but I didn’t want to add another colour and I felt that the deer himself was already fancy enough. I mounted this onto a real red base. I’ve got my eye on all the candles next, but I’m trying not to get too Christmassy. We still have 12 or so weeks!

Welcome to a new Stampin’ Up! year

Thank you to everyone who reached out to ask about the silence on my blog over the past 3 weeks. As you know, I was recently diagnosed with lung cancer and was fighting the fatigue that came with the radiation therapy. As that was supposed to be wearing off, it became clear that my thyroid medication had been affected and I was hit with fatigue from that. So I’ve spent a lot of the past 3 weeks either asleep or almost horizontal with my nose in a book. Sitting up at my computer was tiring and I had no energy for creating. I’ve started dreaming about making cards so I think my brain is ready to get back to it. I’m hoping that my body is too! So, bear with me as I try to get back to normal service!

Stampin’ Up!’s year starts today on October 1st and they are pushing the boat out to start it with some excitement! Firstly, World Card-making Day is 7th October and to celebrate, there’s 15% off notecards and selected stamp sets but the thing I’m most excited about is fast fuse. If you buy a fast fuse, you get TWO free refills. That’s $25 worth of product for $10. And you can buy as many as you like (just not as stampin’ rewards if you want the free refills). Just click on the banner below to see the details.

As if this wasn’t enough, there’s another offer that runs the full month and it’s all about paper!

The Merry Patterns offer also runs through the end of this month – an order of $300 nets you this set on top of all other rewards. Gather some friends together and get your free set. I got mine last week and plan to play with it today. It’s gorgeous.

And finally, news which has demonstrators very excited. Stampin’ Up! is releasing alcohol markers and we are able to purchase them from now until October 15th. The expectation is that they will be available to customers before the end of the year – they want to see how the demonstrators order to be sure to have enough stock. Click on the picture below to see the colours and the kit and stamp set which will be released along with the Stampin’ Blends. If you join the Stampin’ Up! family as a demo before October 15th, you’ll be able to order these too!

So to sum up:

  1. 15% off card making essentials
  2. Buy 3 get one free DSP
  3. Merry Patterns free host set
  4. Stampin’ Blends.

Exciting times, right? It definitely helped me get out of bed and to the computer!
