Vertical Greetings for CAS C&S

It’s Thursday again – they seem to be coming more frequently! – and so it’s time for another challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches, a colour one this week. This was the perfect time to pull out another of my new sets, Vertical Greetings.

Stampin' Up! Vertical Greetings

Here’s the banner which inspired my card:

I started by stamping the topiary tree in its pot carefully inking up the stamp with 2 colours and helping the join between the two with my Stampin’ Write markers. After I’d added the greeting, I’d still only used two of the three compulsory colours. Since there seemed to be just too much white space, I cut down my piece of whisper white and made a slim pool party mat to frame it adding both pieces to a thick whisper white card base. I really like the thick whisper white cardstock for bases although I’ve found that you really need to score the fold or you don’t get a clean edge.

To balance the pool party a bit, I decided to add a little bow as well. I still have some leftovers from a previous ribbon share and happened to have a piece of the cotton ribbon in pool party. It made the perfect bow.

Whilst my stamps were still inked up, I decided to decorate the envelope too. I miss my envelope liners, but perhaps Stampin’ Up! are trying to get us to be more creative with our envelopes. I’m sure if the envelope liners were still available, I’d have just used a liner for this envelope.

Do pop over to the CAS Colours & Sketches site to see the inspiration from the rest of the team and to have a go yourself. You’ll notice that Louise and I had pretty much the same card in our head for this one!

See you tomorrow,

Liz
