Paper Pumpkin Time

It’s the 9th of the month which means that it’s almost your last chance to sign up for Paper Pumpkin and get this month’s kit. Here are the alternative cards that I made with January’s kit which was actually about treat bags. Apparently I got completely side tracked by the stamp set in the kit!

Paper Pumpkin January 2017 Alternate 5

With just a couple of days to go before the deadline to be on the list for the February paper pumpkin, I’m up to my Paper Pumpkin January 2017 Alternate 5. This one is the thank you card that I sent out to my January customers and it combines the January Paper Pumpkin, Adoring Arrows and the Sealed with love bundle.

Using sweet sugarplum ink, I stamped the sentiment all over my background layer, ensuring that some fell off the edges. Then I stamped off once and added a little layer of hearts onto a piece of scrap before cutting it out with the Love Notes framelits dies. I then stamped the thank you sentiment again on the middle of the note. The dies includes one to make a little envelope and I cut this one out of the Sending Love glassine sheets; it’s easy to assemble especially since the die adds score lines. I put it together with a glue dot and topped that with an enamel shape and popped it up with some dimensionals. It was fun making them and surprisingly quick too. Just use a piercing mat to ensure good coverage when using the photopolymer stamp and you’re good to go – just don’t forget some scrap to cover the mat when you’re stamping off the edge.

Paper Pumpkin January 2017 Alternate 4

Here’s my Paper Pumpkin January 2017 Alternate 4, a fun way to make your own designer series paper. The Paper Pumpkin kit has the heart outline and a number of sentiments that fit inside it as well as a solid stamp.

I took the stamps and used sweet sugarplum for my outlines and then the same colour and dapper denim to fill in the hearts with the sentiments. Next I created a sweet sugarplum sentiment and cut it out with the stitched shapes framelits dies and a matching sweet sugarplum layering circles die and then discovered that the placement I wanted covered a dapper denim sentiment and made the card unbalanced. So I stamped the sentiment in dapper denim and that fixed everything, popping this up on dimensionals.

These are unusually muted colours for a Valentine’s Card but I like how it works. It’s not in your face bright red or pink and it’s refreshing I feel.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Paper Pumpkin January 2017 Alternate 3

A sweet and simple Valentine’s card for today and my Paper Pumpkin January 2017 Alternate 3, using the Adoring Arrows kit. I really enjoy getting the kit every month, never knowing what it’s going to contain. I like to challenge myself to create a number of cards with the supplies (or minimal additional ones) just to see what I can create. Here I’m using the stamp set and extra supplies.

So I’m using melon mambo and a couple of the stamps on whisper white paper. A few melon mambo enamel shapes and a melon mambo card base and I’m done. It’s one of the fastest cards that I’ve made in a while. I contemplated adding a wooden heart, one of the new Sending Love Embellishments but it was too much. Clean and simple is my favourite.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Please use the hostess code to get free handmade cards – this is the last day of the this month’s code; the current one is PNF6CKRH (if your order is over $150, don’t use the code, you get the rewards, but you still get the free cards from me). Day at the Beach

For the last few days, I’ve sat down at my table to relax by making a card and I’ve been too tired to come up with anything. This is especially amazing because I have a pile of unused products that I’ve been desperate to use! So between starting the watercolouring on Day of the Beach last night and a hair cut this morning, I’ve finally managed to finish a card. It’s quite apposite since after the hair cut, my friend Julia and I went for pedicures. It wasn’t planned in advance so we ended up with those paper flip flops that the shop provides and mine were bright pink. Somehow I must’ve known!

The Day at the Beach stamp set just cries out for watercoloring. I used the pencils and a blender pen on whisper white but it wasn’t giving me the look I wanted so I switched to watercolor paper and an aquapainter. Kept the pencils. If you haven’t tried these, you really must. They are wonderful to use. Here I was using daffodil delights, bermuda bay and melon mambo with a little basic black to add more color to the straps. I changed up my usual layout where the border of the main layer is even and had the watercolor paper extending the length of the card. I knew that I wanted to use a banner and this was a perfect time to use the awesome sentiment from this month’s paper pumpkin, Adoring Arrows.I used the triple banner punch to get my flag ends on the watercolor paper and also on my bermuda bay mat. I popped that up with dimensionals. And I can’t see that there’s anyone who should receive this card other than my amazing friend Julia.
