Love Sparkles

Here’s another stamp set that you need to grab quickly – it, along with the rest of the 2016-2017 is only available for SIX more days and some of the products are selling out. Love Sparkles is down to low inventory and you need it. Here are a few of the cards that I’ve made with it:

The Festive TIEF isn’t going to be available after Tuesday either – it’s on sale for $6.80.

Love Sparkles

I think I’ve only used two sentiments from the retiring set Love Sparkles, but I’ve used them a lot! The big sparkly Celebrate is perfect for the front, or indeed the inside, of a celebratory card. And it pairs beautifully with the gorgeous Fruit Stand DSP.

Here I’ve put a leftover piece of the DSP onto a pumpkin pie base. Actually pumpkin pie isn’t one of the colours noted as being in this paper – the official oranges are peekaboo peach and tangerine tango but due to the watercolour nature of the paper, pumpkin pie is actually a better match. I wouldn’t have dreamed of going outside the lines and picking a different colour three years ago, but since I’ve been carding, I’ve become more comfortable in my colour choices. And pumpkin pie works.

I like the thin border around the paper and then the plainness of the card base with the fun banner straddling the two. I’ve used pumpkin pie for my Love Sparkles greeting and popped it up on dimensionals. And of course the triple banner punch to make the banner.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Love Sparkles

So what do you do when you’re out of designer series paper and you don’t want to buy any more until the new catalog is out? You make your own of course. I confess that I’m nowhere near close to being out of DSP, but I’m assuming that there might be a few people in the world who are in this place? Or maybe, it’s just fun making the paper. I then used Love Sparkles for a sentiment, but mostly this is about having fun with the background.

I made quite a few pieces of homemade DSP using the shaving foam technique about 10 days ago and this is using the second piece made with melon mambo, pumpkin pie and daffodil delight. This time, as a main focal point of the card. I’ve matted it using a piece of daffodil delight and then put it down onto a thick whisper white card base. I then used Love Sparkles for my melon mambo sentiment and used the triple banner punch for my flag.

Here’s a little tip for you – when your banner is only partly on a raised piece of card, add cardstock to build up the piece that isn’t on the raised part. I glued a little scrap of whisper white and daffodil delight cut into a square and then added it under the “you” end of the banner. I could then put dimensionals onto this square and also to the other end of the banner and they would be the same height, rather than the banner drooping as it went off the DSP background. It doesn’t have to raise all of the banner, just the piece that has the dimensionals on it.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Love Sparkles Thank You card

This is the epitome of a clean and simple card using a whisper white notecard which not only is great value but makes your card making even quicker. It also showcases the set Love Sparkles.

I took three watercolor pencils – melon mambo, rich razzleberry and pacific point and scribbled onto the card. Next a blender pen took out the lines and moved the colour around a little, blending it together where the colors changed. Once that was dry, I used archival basic black to add the thank you from Love Sparkles. Sadly, this set is retiring but the good news is that it’s still available and is guaranteed to be so through my father’s birthday, May 22nd. Not that Stampin’ Up! knows my father but it makes it a really easy way to remember the date!

A few enamel shapes in pacific point and melon mambo finished this off.

Love Sparkles all Festive

I’ve been meaning to use the Love Sparkles stamp set again for a while now and I finally got around to it at the weekend.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Love Sparkles - Festive

First though, I dry embossed the entire blushing bride card front (before folding my card base) using the Festive TIEF. I like how the dry embossing goes all the way to the edge, but the slight downside (if it is one) is that the debossing is seen on the inside and the card isn’t as sturdy. Still, it looks great! I then heat embossed the Celebrate sentiment from Love Sparkles on very vanilla card – I used the retired blushing bride embossing powder but you could easily ink your stamp with blushing bride ink and then versamark before using the clear embossing powder. The layering ovals framelits were a perfect fit and, since I’d decided to add rhinestones to the sparkly parts of the sentiment, it made sense to add a silver foil mat which I popped up. A really quick and easy, but effective, card.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Please use the Stampin’ Rewards code to enter the raffle for a chance to win your very own Bookcase Builder stamp set for free; the current Stampin’ Rewards code is Y3JVQ4Q7 (if your order is over $150, don’t use the code, you get the rewards, but you still get an entry into the raffle).
