Jolly Hat Builder Punch

Need a few extra quick Christmas cards? Look no further than your jolly hat builder punch. In fact, whilst making this card, I cut out a few other pieces and so have the makings of another card. Or a tag.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Jolly Hat Builder Punch - Oh What Fun

I used the jolly hat builder punch on red, silver (and gold actually) glimmer paper before deciding on a red hat with silver trim. Whilst I used the liquid glue for the main part of the hat, I used fuse to attach the trim – liquid glue doesn’t stick well to glimmer paper and tends to slide around. Fuse holds everything VERY firmly!

For the simple sentiment, it’s real red ink and Oh, What Fun – a set full of greetings made for tags but perfectly at home on cards too. I cut down my layer a quarter inch to enable a thin mat of real red to echo the redness of the rest of the card, popped that onto a thick whisper white card base and I was done. These could be mass produced very easily – I may be doing that later on today since my brother needs cards for people at work. I can multi-task – make cards whilst cooking dinner. We’re eating late these days because he’s working late. It’s never a problem to make cards is it?! And glitter is so Christmassy – it’s currently over my grid paper and punch. In fact, I’m probably wearing it!

Baby Bear with a Jolly Hat

Here’s another Christmas card using a non-Christmassy stamp set – this time, Baby Bear along with the Jolly Hat builder punch to add the Christmas to the card. Technically, the hat is a little small for the bear, but it was too adorable not to do it.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Jolly Hat builder punch - Christmas pines - Baby Bear

The bear is stamped in soft suede first for the most detailed layer and then crumb cake for the next detailed and crumb cake stamped off for the least detailed layer. I like to do it backwards so that it’s easy to see the darker layer for lining up purposes. The final piece of stamping came from Christmas Pines, a set that I love but have only recently started to use – fortunately it’s carrying over. Do you ever do that? Buy something that you love and it just sits on your desk amidst all the other sets and it gets ignored for a while?

I punched out the hat in real red and whisper white and added the festive touch to my bear! What do you think?

I just noticed that today is the deadline to guarantee Christmas delivery.

Jolly Friends with a jingle

Today’s card was CASEd from the Holiday catalogue – from the card that made me get the Jolly Friends stamp set on page 29. I love the crumb cake tone on tone stamping of the moose and decided that I needed to make a card that way.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Jolly Friends - Jolly Hat Builder Punch

One moose is stamped in early espresso and I then stamped that again on a piece of scrap and cut him out. All I had to do then was build up Rudolph. I used the jolly hat builder punch which coordinates with the stamp set to cut out a hat and bobble out of real red but used the bobble as Rudolph’s red nose. This gave me the perfect opportunity to use a jingle bell as the bobble which I attached with a glue dot – it still jingles. I love these embellishments! I’ve got a tag swap on Thursday (which I only remembered last night) and I think it will feature jingle bells. For some glitz, I cut out the brim from gold glimmer paper – if you’re careful, it’s easy to just cut out the brim, thus saving the glimmer paper, although there’s nothing wrong with cutting out the whole thing and making more hats! I popped Rudolph up with dimensionals and then put my crumb cake layer onto a real red card base. I used the Holly TIEF to dry emboss my envelope flap – I love this look but I really should use the folder on a card one of these days.

Reminder that today is the last day of the online extravaganza and today is the one day flash sale. Magnetic platform at 35% off anyone?

Jolly Hat Builder Punch

Yes, I’ve been playing with the Jolly Hat Builder punch again. It’s rather addictive. I know that my sister Caro has even punched one out and put on a photograph! I thought that I’d try a few of the other hat stamps in Jolly Friends as an excuse for more hats… 🙂

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Jolly Hat Builder Punch - Jolly Friends - Merriest Wishes

So my moose is stamped in soft suede again. This time the hat is the stripy rather Dr Seuss looking one and the brim and bobble are in silver glimmer paper. This is when I regret not having the red glimmer paper. Yet. I popped the bobble up on a teeny piece of dimensionals for some fun.

I’m finding that the brim of the hat can go either way up – I think that the stamp set implies it’s the other way than I’ve done it here, but this works too.

The sentiment is actually the name of the set, Merriest Wishes and that’s in real red too. I used a skinny mat of soft suede to echo the moose but that meant that I had a nice wider real red border from the card base. There are a few more different hat stamps to go, but since my Paper Pumpkin arrived at the post office in the wee hours, I’m expecting it today. So there will likely be a Paper Pumpkin related post tomorrow. It looks like a fun kit – I’ve already seen the video.

Jolly Friends CAS Christmas card

Another thing that I got earlier this week and I couldn’t wait to play with was Jolly Friends. I absolutely love the moose but wasn’t sure how much I’d use it but I saw some cards my sister Caro made and I just couldn’t resist. And this one is fun but easily duplicatable (a new word, but you know what I mean)

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Jolly Friends - Jolly Hat Builder Punch - Star of Light

The moose is stamped in soft suede and the hat in real red. The hat was then punched out with the jolly hat builder punch – I did warn you that I was going to be putting these adorable hats on everything! I then used some gold glimmer paper to decorate his hat – also cut out with the builder punch. The sentiment comes from the Star of Light set – this one seems to be rather useful too. I’ll try not to wear it out!

I’m not quite sure from the tracking, but I MIGHT be getting my Paper Pumpkin today in which case, there will be some alternate ideas coming up soon.
