Happy Birthday Thinlits Die

I’m still recovering from an upper respiratory infection and that means that I have nothing energetic planned today beyond a little walk and a lot of crafting. Sounds like the perfect day, right?! Today I wanted to share how easy the new Happy Birthday Thinlits die makes it to create a fun card.

I used the tranquil tide for the happy birthday thinlits die and it easily fell out of the die. The DSP is a piece from the new Eastern Palace Specialty DSP and I matted that with a more tranquil tide. I layered this all onto one of the new very vanilla notecards and the card was done. It would be perfect for the times when you need a birthday card in 3 minutes flat!

I can’t wait for the new multipurpose adhesive sheets which are coming in my order – that will make it even easier. For this one, I used a dauber, multipurpose glue and the silicone craft mat.

Eastern Palace Specialty DSP again

Here’s another piece of the Eastern Specialty DSP but a completely different colorway. This one is pairing Fresh Fig with the Tranquil Tide instead of Lemon Lime Twist. It’s a fairly lively print which gave me a few issues as I tried to pair it with the new Eastern Medallions Thinlits dies, but everything I tried came out too busy. So this one just has a simple banner.

The card base is very vanilla (another reason to love the Eastern Specialty DSP) with a deep border of Fresh Fig before a piece of the pretty DSP. I then took a piece of very vanilla scrap and stamped the sentiment from Endless Birthday Wishes (it’s going away, but guaranteed to be available until next Monday) in Fresh Fig. I think this may be the most used sentiment that I have in my collection! I had trimmed the scrap to be just under an inch wide so that it would easily slide into the triple banner punch. I cut a piece of fresh fig just over an inch wide and cut one end of the banner with the triple banner punch. At this point, I realised that I’d have to be really careful to accurately use the punch for the other end so I glued the two pieces together and used scissors to cut the flag in the fresh fig. It’s not as simple, but it’s safer! I popped this up with dimensionals.

Eastern Palace Specialty DSP

So after a rather busy week, I took some time this morning to play with some of my new product. I also wanted to try a third card with the same basic layout as the last two that I shared but to try to make it seem different again. A fun challenge. So I took the newly released Eastern Palace Specialty DSP which is available to you now in two bundles  (with freebies) and available a la carte as of June 1st.

And I amazed myself – and my sister – by using a predominantly lemon lime twist piece of DSP. I’d said that I wasn’t sure about this colour and could see only using it in accents, but after the surprise of the large piece of loud Fruit Stand DSP, I wondered. This is again a 3 1/2 by 4 1/4 inch piece but this time the mat (tranquil tide) has a large border. I had already cut out the tranquil tide shape using the Eastern Medallions Thinlits Dies and then cut that out with a circle and then trimmed the shape out from inside the circle (mostly because my circle wasn’t centred) and then put it to one side. This morning I realised that it would be a perfect accent for the card to hold the sentiment which is from the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set and stamped in yet more lemon lime twist.

And there you have it. Three cards with the same basic layout, all quite different. I enjoyed the challenge to myself. Now to use some of the sets that are retiring that haven’t been used enough…
