Swirly Scribbles thinlits dies for LIM

I made this card at the weekend and yet here I am sliding it into the challenge just under the wire! There’s just been too much excitement with the new catalogue launching to post my card. You’ll notice that I’ve finally managed to stop using the swoosh from the Swirly Scribbles thinlits dies and have actually used one of the scribbles!

Here’s the banner which inspired my card

Do you notice the shadow down the diagonal on my card? Yes, I cut the card to create the line in the sketch

I just took a regular cardbase, lined it up on my trimmer where it looked right and just chopped off a piece. I could’ve used that for the inside part but I actually used one of my precut liners which is a 1/4 inch smaller in both dimensions. I used the piece I’d removed from the card front to get the angle right and then embossed it using the Softly Falling TIEF. This serves two purposes – it decorates the card front when the card is closed and makes it clear where you shouldn’t write to prevent your message showing. I glued the non-embossed piece next to it with an added sentiment from Cottage Greetings.

Do you notice a couple of tiny pearls added to the dry embossing? There are three. I did the same on the envelope too, where they are easier to see.

For the focal point of the card, I finally used one of the scribbles from the swirly scribbles thinlits dies to cut out my real red piece. The sentiment is from Sunburst sayings and I popped up my very vanilla circle for a little extra interest. A very clean and simple card that’s easy to make although it looks a little intimidating to start with.

Don’t forget that I’m offering blog candy but the deadline to comment is tonight.

See you tomorrow,

Liz

I’m just catching up on commenting, as I was away on a choir tour in chilly Derbyshire last week.
