Paper Pumpkin January 2017 Alternate

A quick Paper Pumpkin January 2017 alternate before I dash off to work. Yes, on a Sunday. Thankfully a rare occurrence but the project that I’ve been pulled into recently is rather demanding! So demanding, that it wasn’t until yesterday that I was able to get to the post office and mail out my thank you packages to the people who came shopping with me last month. Apologies for the week’s delay if you are one of them, but they are on the way now and are expected to be delivered by Tuesday at the latest.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Paper Pumpkin January 2017 - Adoring Arrows

Here I decided to take the elements of the kit and rather than make a bag, change it to a card. The only thing I’ve added is a scrap of calypso coral card stock. First I cut one of the bag fronts down and added a border just 1/8 inch of calypso coral to frame it. The banner and striped vellum are from the kit and attached together with glue dots. The ones in the kit are really flat and, amazingly, don’t show through the vellum. Before I’d learned that, I had designed this so that the heart would cover the glue dots – now I can remove the “how do I hide the glue dot” concern from my designs whilst using kit glue dots. Finally I stamped the heart with the outline and sentiment and added it with dimensionals.

By the way – there’s one glue dot under the vellum that’s not hidden by something else. I’m so thrilled that it’s invisible! At least, I think it is  – let me know if you can see it!

Love Notes Framelits Dies

I’ve been looking at some of the new product that arrived about a week ago and I’ve been wanting to play with it but long work hours have made it difficult. So I’m happy that I found some time today and I set out to use the new Sending Love suite which we played with at the Onstage Local back in November. Then we made some little cute 3 inch cards, but this time I wanted to use the Love Notes Framelits Dies on a full sized card. I intended to use the DSP too, but somehow that didn’t happen.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Love Notes Framelits Dies - Sealed with Love

I took my colour scheme from the make and takes from Onstage – real red and emerald envy. I started by cutting out the envelope – easy with the dies – out of the sending love glassine sheets. Not only is it cut out, the die does the scoring for you. Just a little dab of snail on the bottom flap and the envelope was made. The sentiment actually comes from Suite Sentiments, a stamp set full of sentiments (!) which are designed to coordinate with other products in the Occasions catalog. So I stamped that first and then cut out my insert for the envelope. Luckily the Sealed with Love stamp set is a photopolymer so it was easy to line up my line of hearts. The heart is also cut out with the Love Notes Framelits Dies. For some reason, I overlooked the real red 3/8″ stitched satin ribbon in the annual catalog and only just received it. It’s fabulous in real red.

I guess I should start dinner before playing some more…

Beautiful You Trio

It’s time to share another card made with one of my favourite stamp sets from the Occasions catalogue and this time it’s showcasing all of the Beautiful You trio of ladies. It took a little juggling to get them all onto a regular sized card along with a sentiment, but I’m really pleased with how this came out. I like the way that the sentiment fits so well with images of one lady living with passion and doing many things and having many looks. It also reminds me of the images on the front of a paper pattern and I went to sewing shops many times with my mother to peruse the pattern books.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Beautiful You - Blooms & Bliss DSP

So here I stamped the Beautiful You trio onto a piece of watercolor paper along with the sentiment using my favourite archival black. I actually made about 8 different cards with this stamp set at the same time but I’m spacing out sharing them. I’d done a sweet sugarplum one and decided to use that on this one too along with some dapper denim which I’d chosen as a card base. Then I decided to add a different darker shade and the very stylish lady in the middle is actually wearing a rich razzleberry dress. But with the water in my aquapainter, the colours look almost identical. I think I’ll experiment with a sweet sugarplum wash and add rich razzleberry colour with the new watercolor pencils for contrast. I suspect that they will work beautifully together.

I cut a piece of Blooms & Bliss DSP to line the envelope flap – it matches perfectly with both rich razzleberry and sweet sugarplum.

My paper pumpkin finally arrived yesterday but after another late night at the office, by the time I had cooked dinner and we’d eaten it was about 10pm and I had no energy to play. There seems to be a state of energy where crafting gives energy but there’s also a lower state where you can’t think creatively at all. Here’s hoping that I get home earlier and can just relax with my kit.

Succulent Garden DSP on my phone

I was reading Pootles‘ website last week and she showed a project where she inserted a piece of DSP inside a see through phone cover. I’ve been meaning to get a new cover because mine had lost a little piece and this was enough to have me running to amazon and getting my own see through case. Then came the hard part. Choosing which paper to use. I’d just made a card using a piece of mint macaron and whisper white pattern from the Succulent Garden DSP and I love it. So that was candidate number one!

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Succulent Garden DSP - Affectionately Yours DSP

I started by using a piece of scrap paper and drawing around my old case. After cutting this out, I held it over the new case and started taking off thin strips – about 1/8 inch off both dimensions was perfect although I didn’t realise that at the time. I cut a little extra off the length and THEN found my corner rounder and punched each corner. It fit beautifully apart from being too short. Whilst it was in the case, I drew around the hole in the case and then snipped that out with my scissors. Now that I had my pattern created, it was a simple matter of cutting the Succulent Garden DSP piece to size and drawing the line for the camera hole. I love how this looks on my phone, it has made it look totally new.

I was so happy with it, that I had to make another – this one is the copper embossed paper from Affectionately Yours. I can see that there are going to be frequent changes!

I’ve been mentioning the great deal that during Sale-a-bration (ends March 31st) you get a freebie for each time you spend $50 (before taxes and shipping) but what I should also be mentioning is what a fantastic deal you can get if you join the stampin’ up family during this time. You get to select ANY products of up to $125 and pay just $99 with free shipping. You can also select ANY two stamp sets for free which are worth up to $104. So that means you’re paying $99 instead of $251.90! It’s the ultimate deal and if you so choose, you never have to do anything again. There’s no penalty for dropping, it’s just a fabulous deal. But if you so choose, you can continue to get the discount (at least 20%) and see new products early and be eligible to attend Stampin’ Up! events and basically have a great time meeting new people. You don’t have to be in New Jersey to join my team, with the power of the internet, you can be anywhere. Want to know more? Drop me an email and we can chat that way or I’ll give you a call and can answer any questions that you have.
