My July Paper Pumpkin

I fully intended to publish this post the day after I showed the kit but my computer died. And then, on my brother’s birthday, my foot had a fight with a sushi knife (and lost) necessitating surgery to fix one of the tendons to my big toe. Elevating the foot doesn’t really match up too well with carding as you can imagine. And I had a great incentive to really follow instructions because I had a trip to Barcelona planned 12 days after the surgery. The good news is that I made the trip although I had to walk less than usual, but I had a great time meeting my family and friends there for my 50th birthday celebration. My computer is even more dead than before – so I’ve borrowed Martin’s laptop. There’s blogging to do! So this is my version of the Thanks a Latte “official” card although I made a few changes.

Stampin' Up! July Paper Pumpkin Thanks a latte

I really like the DSP that came in the kit (which is amazing since it’s grey) and wanted to make it stand out more by giving it a frame. So I cut a piece of tangelo twist as a mat – I think it pulls the card together nicely. As I mentioned in the last post, the “torn out of a notebook” look isn’t for me so I removed that part – although after I’d made the card I realise that I should’ve trimmed it with a trimmer rather just pulling it off at the perforation – you can see the top of the white part is not completely straight. I only added the tangelo twist sticker to the bottom of the white piece instead of the grey and white striped as well. The white piece is popped up on stampin’ dimensionals as is the cup itself; I think the card is better in person since it’s hard to see all the dimension in the photograph.

Even though it’s September and this is an old kit, I’m still going to share another card I made using supplies from this kit tomorrow (bearing any more disasters!).

This is a good time to share what Stampin’ Up! is doing for Breast Cancer Awareness Month – here’s the information straight from SU! It’s definitely a good cause so please share with anyone you know who may be interested. All they need to do is click on the Paper Pumpkin link on the left hand of the screen and sign up.

To show our support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re going PINK . . . or at least our October boxes are! And because we know our subscribers want to share the love too, we will be making a donation on their behalf to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).

Stampin’ Up! will donate

  • $1 for every active Paper Pumpkin subscriber.
  • Plus, an additional $1 for every new subscriber.

Together, we will make a difference!

Here’s how you can help:

  1. Subscribe! If you’re new to Paper Pumpkin, click here to get started. Your first kit will arrive in a limited-edition pink box that you’ll want to hold onto forever-and we’ll donate $2 because you’re new!
  2. Stay active if you’re a subscriber so we can donate $1 for you. Only those who receive the October shipment will be counted for the donation.
  3. Spread the word! Help us get as many new subscribers as possible. Every current subscriber adds $1 and for new subscribers it’s doubled, so let’s get the word out and raise as much as possible.
  4. Use the images below to spread the word via email, texts, and social media. For those who have been on the fence about Paper Pumpkin, this could be just the thing that makes them want to give it a try!
  5. Use the opportunity to share Paper Pumpkin on World Card Making Day (October 3). If you’re holding an event, include a Paper Pumpkin Make & Take. Encourage your customers to sign up by October 10 so they can be a part of something bigger with a donation to BCRF.

Remember, those who get the October kit will not only be donating to a good cause, but they will also get a one-time only, pretty pink Paper Pumpkin box! No one will want to miss it. Promise.

See you tomorrow,

Liz
