Sending Hearts – Jan Paper Pumpkin alternative

Here’s a third alternative card using January’s Paper Pumpkin Sending Hearts kit.

This time I stamped the heart in versamark on a Real Red layer and sprinkled on heat and stick powder. After heating that until it was glossy I put some of the fabulous gilded leafing and rubbed it in with a sponge dauber. As long as you don’t overheat the powder it works really well and looks gorgeous. After adding a mat of gold foil it was put onto a real red card base.

Sending Hearts – Jan Paper Pumpkin alternative

This week I’m focusing on the January Paper Pumpkin kit – Sending Hearts. I also like to make alternative cards with the supplies provided. Here’s another one using January’s Sending Hearts kit.

As my previous alternative, this one is also very simple and easy to make multiples. The adorable snail – did you miss him in your paper pumpkin kit? – is simply stamped in Soft Suede on Petal Pink along with the sentiment which is also from Sending Hearts. This was then matted in Soft Suede and a piece of the Petal Pink Organdy Striped ribbon (149441, $8) was added before attaching it all to the card base. A few gilded gems (152478, $7) finished the card.

Let me know what you think of this use of the Sending Hearts stamp set.

Sending Hearts – Jan Paper Pumpkin alternatives

I’ve been receiving the subscription Paper Pumpkin kits for ages and have watched the quality of the kits rise significantly. I also like to make alternative cards with the supplies provided. Here’s one using January’s Sending Hearts kit.

No Matter the Weather

This month’s Paper Pumpkin, No Matter the Weather was a special one. Since it was Paper Pumpkin’s 7th birthday, we got an extra stamp set in the subscription box. I haven’t made alternatives for Paper Pumpkin in quite a while but I thought it would be fun to play. And it was!

Here’s one using the extra stamp set. I stamped the basket in Sahara Sand and the flower in lovely lipstick. I using a lot of lovely lipstick at the moment since it will be retiring soon and I love it. I put the basket of flowers onto a layer which I scored to give some interest. Tip – put the card you’re scoring upside down to get a scoring that is embossed rather than debossed.

The basket and flowers are quite easy to line up – just concentrate on the lower left and upper right. They’re easy unless you’re filming and can’t put your head right over it anyway!

There’s a video on my facebook page, My Elegant Cards and on my YouTube channel, My Elegant Cards with Liz Bailey showing me making this.

Paper Pumpkin

Let’s talk about Paper Pumpkin, Stampin’ Up!’s all-inclusive papercrafting subscription program. The program just turned five years old and although I believe it got off to a rough start, the kits have improved over time and now they are really excellent.

pp_sab_demo_head_011889047e1b0be1686086dbff0000ec372d

This service was designed for customers who are new to papercrafting, giving them no-fuss creativity in a box—delivered straight to their door. It’s also good for seasoned crafters who like to have a kit to play with (especially with others) and now Paper Pumpkin is making it even easier to start getting creative by removing some of the cost for new subscribers!

Because right now new subscribers get 50% off their first 2 months.

Here are the fine details on the offer:

  • Promotion is for new subscribers only
  • Offer is available March 11–May 10, 2018
  • Offer runs for 2 months
  • Use code SAVEFIFTY0418 at checkout
  • Discount is applied to one kit per month for the first two month of a new subscription.
    • How it works: A new customer can subscribe during April’s subscription period from March 11–April 10 or May’s subscription period from April 11–May 10 and receive the discount. If a new customer subscribes during April’s subscription period they will receive 50% off their subscription when billed in April and May. If a new subscriber subscribes during May’s subscription period they will receive 50% off their subscription when billed in May and June. If a customer suspends during their 2-month discount period, they will receive their discount during the first 2 months in which they reactivate.
  • Does not apply to prepaid codes

The other great thing about Paper Pumpkin is that you can purchase ahead which is a wonderful thing right now. Because whatever size prepayment you go for earns you free Sale-a-bration products. But Sale-a-bration finishes tomorrow so you need to move swiftly to grab any free products that you still need. You don’t have to use your prepaid code right away either – so if you’re a new subscriber, you can get your 2 half price kits for the next 2 months and then start using your prepaid.
