Watercolor Christmas Project Kit

There’s a new project kit in the upcoming catalog and it’s the Watercolor Christmas Project Kit. It comes with the supplies to make 20 cards, five each of four designs for $20. All you need to add is the Watercolor Christmas stamp set, black ink and some adhesive. And of course once you’ve bought a kit and the stamp set, it’s extremely cost effective to get another kit! Assuming that you have glue and black ink, if you buy the clear mount stamp set it’s $38 in total for the kit and stamp set. Add another kit and that’s 40 cards for $58 plus shipping and tax. And they are so quick to put together.

Here are the four designs:

Carols of Christmas

A Stampin’ Up! video popped up in my email today; Brandy introducing the Carols of Christmas bundle which is being released a month early. Demonstrators were allowed to play with it last month (one of the perks of being a demonstrator) but the company decided to let this one bundle be purchased early to give you a head start on your holiday cards.

Take a look and see the versatility of this bundle. I’ve already used the dies to make a congratulations card, it’s not just for the holidays.

Add a Little Glitz

I actually planned to make a birthday card for my brother Martin since it’s his birthday tomorrow but my pre-order arrived yesterday and I was drawn in by this gorgeous sentiment from Add a Little Glitz and I just had to play with it! I stamped it in versamark and heat embossed in gold. So beautiful.

I also couldn’t resist using the Year of Cheer Specialty DSP and matted that with gold foil before putting it onto a thick whisper white cardbase. I left a good sized border on the card base – the large number of layers seemed to demand it. The DSP is 3/4 inch smaller than the card base with the foil 1/8 inch larger than the DSP. I cut out a piece of foil from the middle of that mat to use as a border for my sentiment and popped that up with dimensionals.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies

After forgetting to use tranquil tide yesterday, I decided to make it the star of the show today. And with an upcoming Christmas card class on my mind, I combined the two to produce what I think is a really elegant Christmas card featuring the Seasonal Layers Thinlits dies and its matching stamp set, Colorful Seasons.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies - Colorful Seasons - Star of Light

I cut out one of the snowflakes on gold foil and then remembered my multipurpose adhesive sheets – so I adhered some of the sheet behind the foil and cut out three more. Colorful Seasons is an extremely versatile set covering all the seasons, but there’s no Christmas greeting so I turned to one of my current favourite sets, Star of Light for my greeting. I placed my die cut snowflakes where I wanted them but didn’t glue them down in case anything went wrong with my heat embossing. And then stamped my greeting in versamark and also the smaller snowflakes from Colorful Seasons. Only once my gold heat embossing went off without a hitch, did I peel the backing off the gold foil snowflakes and put them in place on my tranquil tide layer. I’d considered a gold foil border for the layer but it was just too much and all the card needed was to be put onto a tranquil tide base.

I can see that the beautiful snowflake from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies is likely to feature on a number of my Christmas cards this year. It’s beautiful and with the multipurpose adhesive sheets, easy to handle. I did find that a couple of passes through the big shot to be helpful when cutting it out though.

Carols of Christmas

Today I’m sharing a Christmas card made with Carols of Christmas, a bundle that is available in August, a month ahead of the official release of the holiday catalog. And since it’s available in August, that means that if you earned any Bonus Day coupons, you can apply it to this bundle. But whatever you choose to buy with your bonus coupons, don’t forget that they expire at the end of August – don’t forget to redeem them! Click on the image below to read how to do that.

OLO-O1Aug1-US

This is my first card with the Carols of Christmas bundle so I started out simply by heat embossing the sentiment in gold onto a piece of real red. Next, I used the poinsettias thinlits (there are two the same) for each corner of my piece of real red. I then used some scraps of gold foil (1 9/16 inch square) to put behind the cut out pointettias. All that was left was to mount this on a real red card base and the card was done.
