Beautiful You and Brusho

As I mentioned previously, it’s rather addictive making cards using the Brusho crystals, finding different effects. Here’s a happy background that really seemed to suit the dancing lady from Beautiful You. Is she dancing or is this yoga? I’m not really sure. Either way, it seems a happy card for a birthday.

I put a piece of watercolor paper onto cling film and sprinkled prussian blue brusho crystals at one end of it and then yellow on the rest of the card. Holding up the cling film to catch the splatters, I sprayed from the bottom rather than down onto the paper. This gave quite a different effect and made the colors blend differently. And the cling film did get fairly splatters so I’d recommend that! I love how there are so many colors on the card even though I only used two.

Once it was thoroughly dry, I added the happy lady using archival black and added a black mat and a dapper denim card base. It’s rather fun choosing card bases because you never can be sure what will look best before you produce the background. It all depends on your mix of crystals. I recommend gently wiping the background with a paper towel to remove any excess powder and to prevent your recipient getting stained fingers!

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.

Addicted to Brusho!

I’m definitely having trouble using anything but the Brusho watercolor crystals at the moment. I had a class on Sunday where we played with Brusho all afternoon and I haven’t stopped since. There are so many things to do with the crystals – at $30 they seem expensive but they will last forever and you can make any colour you want.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Brusho - Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Dies

I wanted to make a card for a friend who is planning on taking advantage of the best deal – the starter kit. That’s $125 worth of product for $99 plus tax, free shipping plus two free stamp sets – and then as long as you’re a current member, you get 20% discount. To stay current, you need to buy /sell $300 per quarter which with the discount is $240 or less than $20 per week. A no brainer. So I figured a congratulations card was in order.

I sprinkled the red and prussian blue crystals onto a piece of cling film and then activated them by spritzing with water. Next I pressed a piece of watercolor paper onto the cling film and then turned it over (be careful, the color is intense and can stain) and pulled and pushed the cling film into wrinkled patterns. After I’d left it to dry, I removed the cling film to find this fabulous background. All it needed was a wisteria wonder mat and then a black card base. I added a congrats from the Sunshine Wishes thinlits dies (first adhering some multipurpose adhesive sheet) in black and I love how the card looks.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.

Brusho

I spent some time this evening playing with the brusho watercolor crystals – it’s such fun. Actually I was having so much fun that I made a bunch of partial cards and didn’t finish any of them! There’s always tomorrow. I wanted to share with you the official Stampin’ Up! video showcasing how to use the Brusho crystals.

They are $30 for the pack of 5 but they will last forever!

Beautiful Day

I am slowly getting back to more crafting even though I’m currently sleeping around 10-11 hours per day. 8 at night and a nap – which sounds excessive but it’s necessary at the moment because I’ve started back to work part time. This of course means that my crafting is even more critical for fun and stress release! I’ll try to share more of what I’m doing with you all. First up is the Beautiful Day set in the new Occasions catalog (page 26 – if you need one mailed, let me know) and the brusho crystal colour. These are watercolor ink crystals which have really intense colors. The brushos are on the same page which is why a lot of people have been playing with the Beautiful Day set and brushos together.

I first stamped the butterfly and left it to dry for quite a while. Seeing as I was making 21 swap cards they had time! Next I wet the watercolor paper inside the butterfly image and then held the little pot upside down and tapped on the bottom. Since there are only 2 holes made with a paper piercer the powder comes up sparingly. I used the red, gamboge and yellow crystals and then spritzed water over the card too. Then I put them aside to dry. As  you can see, they all come out quite differently.

The YOU comes from Amazing You and that gorgeous die cut amazing comes from the matching dies, Celebrate You. My sister cranked out 21 of them after first putting the multipurpose adhesive sheets on the back. It’s so nice to have a visiting crafter! The great thing about these dies is that you can get them for free with a $100 purchase because they are in the Sale-a-bration brochure. And even better is that they will be in the next annual catalog. Personally I prefer to get them for free!

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year! Today is the day that the new Occasions and Sale-a-bration catalogs go live. If you’d like paper copies and don’t already work with a demonstrator, let me know and I’ll send you your own copies. There are so many ways to get freebies at this time of year.

12.01.17_SHAREABLE1_SAB_PRE-EARN_ENG

First you can shop – and for every $50 that you spend in product you can choose a level 1 product from the SAB brochure. For every $100 you can select either 2 level 1 products or a level 2.

Next you can hold a party with your friends and earn the rewards from the party. If your party sales get to $250, you earn an extra $25 in rewards which means at a $250 party, you can choose $50 of product.

12.01.17_SHAREABLE3_SAB_PRE-EARN_ENG

Best of all you can join the team. The Starter Kit is always a fabulous value at $99 for $125 of product of your choice with free shipping but during Sale-a-bration, it’s even BETTER value. In addition to the starter kit as usual, you can pick 2 stamp sets from the annual or occasions catalogs which is a value of up to $101 depending upon your choices. So that’s up to $226 of product for $99 plus tax. It’s really a no brainer since there’s no fine print; if you choose not to buy anything further, you just stop being a member of the Stampin’ Up! family. Nothing to explain or give back.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.
