Inside the Lines DSP

I’ve been colouring the Inside the Lines DSP for the last few evenings, relaxing at my kitchen table after stressful work days. It really does help. There are days when I get home from work and my “creativity gene” is blown out and I find I can’t design a card. I can copy one I’ve already made or put a stamp set together but now I find, I can colour. And that is actually being creative – much more fun than tidying up or building a wood block stamp set!

I pulled out a bunch of watercolor pencils and decided to stick to pinks and reds for the flowers, so melon mambo, rich razzleberry, real red, calypso coral and old olive. I also used a blender pen. It’s been a lot of fun colouring my own DSP – I have no idea why I took so long to pull out this paper. I also have no idea why I didn’t design the card first and not color the parts under the sentiment, but I guess it wasn’t about the final product but about the journey. I encourage you to pull out the Inside the Lines DSP and relax yourself. And once you’ve done that, you’ve the base for a pretty card – I put mine on a base of old olive and used Suite Sayings in melon mambo for the sentiment. I kept it pretty simple with the stitched shapes framelits dies because the DSP is the main part of the card.

In case you’re wondering about the pot – it’s one that my father made for my mother to keep things in on her bedroom dresser. He’s pretty awesome with the lathe!

Don’t forget that today is the LAST day of Sale-a-bration; so the last day to get a FREE product for every $50 you spend (before taxes and shipping), the last day to get an EXTRA free $25 of product when your order hits $250 and the last day to get TWO FREE STAMP SETS when you join the Stampin’ Up! family.

Stampin’ Up Updates

So sadly Sale-a-bration is coming to an end – I love this promotion, it’s awesome to pick free product for every $50 you spend. But it’s nearly over for another year – we have until tomorrow to grab any needed free products and to stock up on basics to keep us going until next Sale-a-bration! And one thing that you might put on your list is the 2015-2017 incolors which will retire at the end of June. The retiring list is due out in about 2 weeks and then the in colors will disappear rapidly. So stock up now before they are gone forever and also when you can still get Sale-a-bration freebies!

Tasty Treats Specialty DSP

I’ve been trying not to hoard my DSP, but I do struggle to cut into the special papers in the specialty ranges – for example this embossed shiny piece from the Tasty Treats Specialty DSP where the cherries and some of the strawberries have a lovely shine.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Tasty Treats Specialty DSP - Frozen Treats Framelits Dies - Cool Treats - Layering Circles Framelits Dies

I wanted to showcase this paper, but on the other hand, it’s quite busy so it needed a large frame. I cut the DSP 1 1/2 inches smaller than the watermelon wonder card base so that I have a deep border and then added a pear pizzazz frame which is 1/8 inch larger than the DSP giving a teeny border that just sets it off nicely.\

The sentiment comes from the stamp set Cool Treats with the adorable little strawberry being cut out using the matching framelits, Frozen Treats. I did try cutting out a pear pizzazz strawberry and layering on the top, but it didn’t look as good as the watermelon wonder one so my little strawberry is more aesthetically pleasing even if not botanically correct! I cropped my circle using the layering circles framelits dies and then used the same dies to get the teeny scalloped border in pear pizzazz again to pull everything together. Popping the circles up on dimensionals just finished everything off perfectly.

Join Stampin’ Up! – News for New Demonstrators

This morning Stampin’ Up! launched a new promotion for people who join Stampin’ Up! between January 1 and March 31st. Not only do you get to select TWO FREE STAMP SETS when you join during this time (that’s a value of up to $104) but if you meet your $300 minimum sales quota by the end of June, you get another FREE STAMP SET. That’s on top of the already awesome joining deal where you select $125 of product with free shipping for only $99.

Ready Set Earn

Here’s the free stamp set that you will earn, depending upon when you submit qualifying sales (sales to yourself count!). In the US, CSV is the same as dollars – it’s just a reporting method to allow comparison globally.

Details

  • Promotion period: Apr 1–June 30
  • Promotion is open to demonstrators who joined from Jan 1–Mar 31
  • Demonstrators qualify for one set during the Apr–June promotion period; they may redeem their set the month after they submit qualifying sales of 300 CSV or more.
  • Only one set will be rewarded regardless of the amount of CSV submitted.
  • If a demonstrator joined Stampin’ Up! from Jan 1–Mar 31, 2017 and already submitted qualifying sales of 300 CSV or more before April, they will receive the Better Together Stamp Set.
  • Stamp sets will be redeemable on the first demonstrator order placed after the tenth of the month following the month the reward was earned. When you pull up your order, you will immediately receive an option to redeem your set; you will also receive a list of suggested items to create the project featured in the class video.
    • Each class video will include:
      • A PDF flyer with a sample card using the earned stamp set
      • A list of supplies needed to make the card; this PDF will be available before the demonstrator needs to place her order (in case she wants to add these supplies to her order).
      • A link to a training video created specifically for the earned stamp set; these videos will also be made available on Stampin’ University after the stamp sets are redeemed.
    • Stamp sets may not be exchanged

Here’s a close look at those three stamp sets:

Now, I don’t mean to rush you, but you have only FOUR days to join Stampin’ Up!’s family and be eligible for the new Ready. Set. Earn. promotion and also, I note that the cost of the free stamp set reduces through the months of April to June. So for the best value you need to sell/buy $300 by the end of April.

It’s easy to spend the $300 when you’re first starting out because there are so many tools that make life easier and it’s far better to put in one large personal order per quarter than three smaller ones, one each month. Let me explain – if you have a $100 budget and put in a $100 order, you get no Stampin’ Rewards. If you put your budget money together and put in one order of $300, you get 12% Stampin’ Rewards on that. So $36 FREE product. If your budget is a bit bigger and you can stretch to a $450 order, you not only get 14% Stampin’ Rewards (that’s $63 in free product) you also get to select an item at 50% off. This is perfect for the starting crafter because you can get your Big Shot, a $110 item, at half off.

See you tomorrow,

Designer Tee

I’d stamped a number of colours of this sentiment from Designer Tee planning a different card but changed my mind. However since I had a few of these sitting on my desk, I was determined to make them into a card.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Designer Tee - Flower Fair framelits dies

I had stamped in perfect plum, rose red and sweet sugarplum and then cut them out with 1 1/4 inch circle matting them with the same colour card in 1 3/8 inch. For the sweet sugarplum though, I used the glimmer paper. And this is where I stopped before, but something else was needed – the  Flower Fair framelits dies were perfect. I cut out three and popped up the centres with dimensionals and carefully bent the tips of the flower to give them some lift before gluing down to my whisper white card base. A very quick card in the execution even though it spread over multiple days. AND no emboss resist to be seen!

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Please use the Stampin’ Rewards code to get a selection of ribbon and sequins (6 yards in all) when your order is $30 or more; the current Stampin’ Rewards code is 34ANVEHC (if your order is over $150, don’t use the code, you get the rewards, but you still get the free gift).
