Happy Home Reprise

I really liked yesterday’s image from Happy Home so I decided to use it again. This was when I realised that I could add two of the images together for a simple scene. This card looks simple but it took me quite a few tries. I tried doing the watercolouring first and last but although the black didn’t run, it was better to do it first.

Stampin' Up! Happy Home

So for this, I used watercolour paper and got it quite wet and laid down a pale wash of pacific point. I tried marina mist which made more sense to me, but the pacific point created a much more realistically coloured sky. For the bottom third of the card, I changed to pear pizzazz. The heat tool was invaluable here to speed up the drying process.

Then I stamped the 2 images from Happy Home using my stamp-a-ma-jig so that I got them to line up together and also so that the delineation between sky and grass was right. After that I used my daffodil stampin’ write marker to colour the child’s shirt and also the flowers. Finally I glued the watercolour paper onto a daffodil delight card base.

What issues did I have? There was smudging of the black as I did my colouring, also I managed to mess up the stamping of the boy by adding some extra black into the middle of that stamp. I tried to turn it into birds but it wasn’t working! I also tried stamping first and then doing the watercolouring but the wash became too “careful” looking. I’m happy with this one!

Happy Friday. See you tomorrow,
