Gift box punch board

Happy Christmas and Feliz Navidad and Happy Holidays to everyone. I’m rather more organised than this time yesterday morning and have only one more gift to wrap. Fortunately in my family we don’t open gifts until after brunch which comes after Martin’s motorbike ride (if it’s warm enough – and it is this year) and my run. So there’s time. I was too busy making dinner last night to finish off.

I had a few pieces of paper to wrap (tickets to shows etc) and I wanted to make them less obvious and more substantial and so I got out my gift box punch board. Every time that I use this, I’m grateful to Jill who bought it for me as a Secret Pal gift last year.

Stampin' Up! Gift box punch board and sleigh ride edgelits dies and flurry of wishes and Oh What Fun and Merry Moments DSP and It's My Party DSP

I wanted to use a tag from the Oh What Fun tag kit that I made last week and went hunting for a DSP with mint macaron. I found the perfect paper in the It’s My Party DSP. I agree it’s a large box for a voucher. There may or may not be some paper towel and walnuts in there just to confuse the recipient. My sister was delighted to see that I was using the tag that she designed (in the middle) and that went perfectly with paper from Merry Moments DSP and some retired mossy meadow ribbon. The sentiment is embossed in white and is from Flurry of Wishes.

The final box is also using Merry Moments DSP but this one is upside down so that the box closure is on the bottom. This made the top cleaner and I decorated that with a bow made with the bow builder punch out of real red that was already dry embossed with stars using the Lucky Stars TIEF. Here’s a closer look at that

For details on the tags, please see my post from last week.

I really like the gift box punch board – I have three examples of different sizes, the board has instructions on it for 15 different sizes (in both cm and inches) so it’s really versatile. Really easy too.

I’d love to stick around and write more and put off my run, but I’d better get moving. I hope that your day is filled with love and fun and joy.

See you tomorrow,

Rose Garden Thinlits Dies

I’m continuing the illusion that I’m totally prepared for Christmas by making a non-Christmas card. Truth be told, I still haven’t wrapped a thing and I’m WAY behind on sending Christmas cards. It’s not even as if I’m short of them. If I send some today, they’ll make it to the UK on time, right?

Stampin' Up! Pretty Petals DSP stack and Rose Garden thinlits dies

This started because my sister was playing with the rose garden dies in rose red and I liked how it looked so I cut one out too. I had been flipping through the Pretty Petals DSP stack which is full of gorgeous patterns (I’m trying not to ignore the annual catalogue) and decided that this one in old olive would be great with the cut out. Except there was too much of a gap on the bottom right hand of the card and I didn’t want to add a sentiment so I cut out a branch of leaves with another die in the Rose Garden set, trimmed it down, flipped it over after burnishing it with my bone folder and added it so that there was no need for a sentiment. I then mounted this onto a cardbase of rose red. I’d say this was easy except it is a bit fiddly, gluing the die down so it’s not a fast card. I think it’s worth it though.

See you tomorrow when I will hopefully be ready for Christmas!

Going Places DSP

There’s a gorgeous new paper stack called Going Places in the upcoming catalogue and I included it in my preorder. It’s full of patterns that remind me of the marbled end papers in old books. I wanted to really feature one of them on a card.

Stampin' Up! Going Places DSP and Hello You framelits dies

Beautiful right? I decided that I wanted to line the outside flap of the envelope with the paper also which needs 2.25″ so I cut that piece off leaving me with 3.75″ and I designed the card around that! It means that I have a leftover inch strip and I’m contemplating using that as a banner somewhere else so that nothing is wasted! I matted the DSP with a skinny mossy meadow mat and mounted that on the hello honey card base pulling both colours from the DSP. The happy comes from the Hello You Thinlits dies and lost lagoon seemed to work best – I didn’t want to introduce yet another colour. The fine-tip glue pen did a good job of gluing this down easily.

For the envelope, I attached the 6 by 2.25 inch strip with multipurpose glue and then simply trimmed the edges with my paper snips.

I realise that the recent concentration on birthdays would imply that I’m completely ready for Christmas. I’m not. Not even close. In fact, I’m off work today to finish up the preparations. I’ve been making Christmas cards, on and off, since August so I have quite a stash.

Here’s what I used for today’s card – bear in mind that you can’t order the Going Places DSP stack until January 5th, unless you sign up as a demonstrator. And there’s no reason not to do so. You get to order new product early, you get a discount (up to 25%) and there’s no penalty if you decide it’s not for you. You can just stop any time. It’s that easy. Just click on the join my team tab and follow the instructions there.

See you tomorrow when hopefully I’ll be able to report that I have this Christmas thing completely under control!

Softly Falling bottle tag

So you’re down to the wire now and grabbing bottles of wine as gifts and wondering how to package them? How about a bottle tag? I CASEd this one from my ornament tag from last month.

Stampin' Up! Sleigh Ride Edgelits and Softly Falling and Flurry of Wishes

These are easy to whip up – I know, I just made this one at 7am. A change in vacation plans means that today is the last day that I’ll see my boss this week. But it’s okay, I don’t think that Peter reads my blog so I’m not ruining the surprise. I cut a strip of whisper white card almost as wide as the bottle (almost 3 inches) and eight inches long. I scored it at 3 inches and cut a hole in the short piece with the circles framelits – how handy that the framelit can be used to measure how it fits over the bottle. I then embossed the longer end using the softly falling TIEF. Then out came my favourite sleigh ride edgelits again – I truly hope that you bought these because they are now retired – and some real red paper. For some reason (not awake yet perhaps?) I decided to put on the santa and his sleigh going from right to left, attached with dimensionals.

Stampin' Up! Sleigh Ride Edgelits and Softly Falling and Flurry of Wishes

For the back, I stamped one of my favourite greetings from Flurry of Wishes in real red on a scrap piece of paper. Well, Merry seems most appropriate here, no?

I hope that this helps with your packaging. And I hope that Peter likes it.

Happy Birthday to Eimear, my sister’s upline and my surrogate one – they live in the UK and I’m in the US so we’re in different trees. But I’ve been adopted which is lovely. Oddly I thought I was adopted as a child since my siblings had intense ginger hair and mine was blonde. Logically, they should have been the adopted children since my hair was the exact same colour as my mother’s!

See you tomorrow,

Birthday Blossoms

I was looking for a challenge yesterday and found the sketch challenge at the PalsPaperArts. I’ve been getting more confident with sketches in the last few months and actually give them a go more often than not. I used to see a sketch and move on. Now I only do that if it’s too fussy for me.

Stampin' Up! Birthday Blossoms and Birthday Bouquet DSP and Botanical Garden Jewels

This card is probably a surprise – it’s a bit more embellished than usual. And there’s a reason for that! I’d finished the card but somehow managed to smear the front with a little mossy meadow on the front (probably due to not enough space since I hadn’t cleaned up my table lately) so I went looking for something to cover it up. The problem was under the leftmost botanical garden jewel (no, you haven’t missed them in the catalogue, they are coming out in the new occasions catalogue which launches on January 5) and it would look odd to just have a single one, so I went with three. I could have applied them with glue dots but I used the leftover adhesive dots from the December Paper Pumpkin which I shared yesterday.
Here’s the sketch which inspired the card

PPA280

I decided to use another sneak peek as my three lines – this is the birthday bouquet DSP and it’s a beautiful collection. I cut a piece of the blushing bride and whisper white DSP the right size to get the three lines and then looked for a happy birthday sentiment which would fit in the appropriately sized oval. I love green with pink and mossy meadow is in the Birthday Bouquet DSP so it’s an easy pick. The sentiment is from Birthday Blossoms stamp set which was new in this year’s annual catalogue. I used the envelope liner framelits to crop a liner for the inside of my envelope. I love dressing up the envelopes!

See you tomorrow,
